I agree with a lot of the shows that were on that list. House ending doesn't surprise me at all, if anything, I'm surprised that it lasted this long. I was a huge fan of it up until season 6, then the show went down hill. The Office I thought was good up until Steve Carell left, after that it was just bad, it took a plunge head first. Desperate Housewives I stopped watching a few years ago when they did that story line about the one neighbor keeping their son locked up in the basement and then Bree's daughter was trying to go out with him or something like that.

Never was a viewer any of the other shows on the list; some I scarcely even heard of.

I wholeheartly agree with you. 90% of the shows on that list were tired formula garbage that smelled of rotten fish and molded milk. Not one was innovative or thought outside the box. Basically tired television series that had been run thru the mill 100s of times before and eventually just conked out.

I LIKED 7th heaven i thought it lasted too long they keepd adding new people you didnt know who was who it became more sope oprar after the kids gotten older. ijust couldn't stand watching it much any moree ithought it lasted toolong.

I totally agree about ER. That one went at least THREE years too long - and without Anthony Edwards, it just wasn't the same.

Notice how there are very few sitcoms on this list. It's because every show in every other genre of scripted television has been done to death. Sitcoms give us shows that are focused on all kinds of people in all kinds of situations. Whereas crime dramas, medical dramas, etc are ALL THE SAME. Its the same handful of character types with the same vocations that they have made entire genres out of. How many damn shows about surgeons and law officers does there really need to be? Not to mention how out-of-sync they are with the real world. It's no wonder these shows get tedious and boring.

I have to agree with The X-Files. By the 9th season the mythology of the series had become so complicated I don't think even Chris Carter knew what was going on.

I agree on 7th heaven. It was supposed to end in season 10 and then they came back for an 11th, that pretty killed it though. I liked season 10, but not 11 that much. Actually one of my favorite eps of the whole series was in season 10, Called "The Magic of Gershwin" I really love that one.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but among shows that are still on the air, Two and a Half Men is the first that comes to mind. And now I hear that they're bringing in Charlie Harper's (Charlie Sheen's character) long lost, ill-legitimate daughter to fill Jake's role! :crazy:

Two and a Half Men is a sad case. In the beginning, the show was legitimately well-written. But for more than half it's lifespan on the air it's been of the same ilk as any sleaze-driven reality show. I can't think of another show that seems to go out of it's way to prove it's degenerated into nothing more than classless sex comedy retreads. It's quite obvious the show is being milked for all it's worth, taking total advantage of all the attention it's gotten in the press (for the wrong reasons). After 10 years this show is very long in the tooth, just begging to be put out of its misery. It's probably been on 4 or 5 seasons too long already.

Unfortunately, this seems to be a recurring theme in Chuck Lorre sitcoms: they start well but eventually devolve into lowest common denominator garbage. That's why I'm so disgusted with the state of multicam sitcoms when he's touted out as being THE BEST in the genre.

I was sad when ER went off the air. I never liked The X Files. I liked Seven Hevean for a while and then I hated it. The kids grew up and weren't as cute, some left the show, new people were added, they ended up "preaching" every week with some hidden message.

ER should have ended at Season 8, should have ended it after Anthony Edwards left, it was not the same with Anthony

Married With Children should have ended at Season 10 since Season 11 was not very good

From my understanding, The X-Files was originally planned to run for about five seasons. But Fox kept renewing it and ultimately, Chris Carter, the showrunner was reduced to basically making things up as they went along.

Forests of Epileptic Trees sprouted around every new tantalizing hint revealed. No reference was too obscure for devoted X-Philes, who cheerfully threw themselves into history, folklore, myth, science, or any other branch of human knowledge that seemed like it might shed some light on the story. By mid-decade, though, the Myth Arc story had churned along for years without really answering any of the questions raised. It had, in fact, mutated into a dense Kudzu Plot, and fans began to suspect that there was no intricately plotted story - he'd just been making it all up as he went along. (Carter eventually confirmed this suspicion.) Fans were irritated by the resolutions to side plots that were long running, such as the fate of Mulder's sister turns out she was spirited away by the fairies!. This eventually went on into the finale which made promises of resolving the Myth Arc which not only fails to do so but also in the last ten minutes presents a teaser for an alien invasion set to occur in 2012 (which doesn't look like it'll be resolved at all).
