View Full Version : Tiffani Thiessen Admits She Never Saw A Single Episode Of "The New Class"
Brian Damage 02-10-2012, 12:30 AM Tiffani Thiessen dodged a serious bullet ... 'cause the former "Saved By the Bell" goddess tells us she never brought herself to watch one single episode of the abomination that was "The New Class."
If only the rest of us had that kind of will power ...
Tiffani -- who was out in NY yesterday -- also told us she was flattered when Justin Bieber rocked a Kelly Kapowski shirt to an award show in Canada last year ... saying, "I highly doubt he's ever seen the show ... but I thought it was super cute."
As for "The New Class" ... seriously, that show was terrible.

hawkeye123 05-28-2012, 03:40 AM I have never saw a single episode either.I am shocked that it lasted that long.Wow! Had a huge crush on Kelly back in the day
Retro4Life 05-28-2012, 12:26 PM My niece used to watch the original show back when she was young, so I had a passing familiarity with it. I remember the laugh track was so loud it really irritated me. They also seemed to think it was necessary to use it after nearly every single line of dialogue.
Am I to assume that "Screech" stayed on as a student teacher or something for the spinoff (I see he's pictured in a suit and tie)? And that the principal was the only other returning character?

Screech joined in season 2 (since he was doing "The College Years" during the first season of "The New Class"). He was Mr. Belding's Administrative Assistant. I think it was supposed to be a temporary thing at first but he never left. Zack, Lisa and Slater all made guest appearances through out the show. Mr. Belding was the only character to appear in the whole show. Mr. Belding and Screech became a wacky duo and Screech got so much more annoying towards the end it's embarrassing to watch.
The picture posted in this thread is from season two.
TVFactFan 05-28-2012, 04:28 PM The New Class would have only made sense if the Principal was the star of the show. LOL
Adamantium 05-28-2012, 08:52 PM Zack, Lisa and Slater all made guest appearances through out the show.
I want to clarify something I said. Zack, Lisa and Slater all guest starred in one episode together. Slater came back a couple seasons later and guest starred in an episode. That's it for their guest appearances. Reading it the way I originally wrote it would make someone think those characters appeared here and there throughout the run of the series and that is not so.

Were they still in college when they made a guest appearance?
catlover79 05-28-2012, 11:23 PM I think they were already done with college by then, but I'm not positive.

They appeared after "The College Years" was over, in a season two episode. Although I would imagine the characters were still in college, if that's what you meant.
Slater even asks Zack "So how's the Mrs.?" Zack replies with a smile and "Good." I think. It's been a while since I've seen it.
Slater reappears in the season four finale when The Max burns down. He shares memories of The Max, which obviously, include clips from the original Saved by the Bell.

I was in college by time the new class started in 1993 so I never saw the show. I did watch the college years because I was freshman just like Zac and the crew and it came on Tuesday Nights on NBC
Dr. Thong 05-29-2012, 06:03 PM I don't really see why she would watch it. Not because the show was supposedly bad (I never saw it, either), but she had no involvement with it, so I don't blame her for not watching it.

The Max burned down???
Adamantium 05-29-2012, 11:11 PM The Max burned down???
Yep. They rebuilt it for the last couple seasons but it had a different look to it.

Ahhhh, I must have missed that. I DID see the episode where Mrs. Belding made an appearance. I'm glad she was once again played by Louan Gideon, who had given birth in the elevator in an episode of the original show.

Not really as the youth was the main focus of the show. Basically, the show was not the same. I think even on the producers admitted to it in E networks "TV Tales". Season four of the show, Screech's voice changed drastically to the point that I was offended by it. I think I put up with the show. Would I buy it on DVD, though? Yes but to help me relive the 90's and to complete my collection of the SBTB era.
MacLeaper 01-29-2013, 12:50 PM I've got all of Lionsgate's releases of "Saved By the Bell" on DVD (Seasons 1-5) and the TV-movies ("Hawaiian Style" and "Wedding in Las Vegas") and "Saved By the Bell: The College Years" on DVD and all of "Saved By the Bell: The New Class" on DVD and I've seen all of the "Good Morning, Miss Bliss" series as well (including the pilot) - I wish Disney would release those episodes to DVD so I could have the complete collection. But anyway, as a fan of the franchise who grew up watching the original GMMB series- I enjoy all of it. SBTB:TNC is not quite the same as the original series but it has its own charms, I feel. I think it's a fun series to watch. But hey- if you don't like it, that's cool too.

I never saw an episode either. By the time "The New Class" was cancelled, I was 16, and really had outgrown new SBTB episodes by then. If I wanted to watch, episodes were on WGN every day after school. I still catch some occasionally. For me, the show's run went from the Miss Bliss days (I caught some of my mom's Hayley Mills fandom) through the college series.
irehtman 06-12-2013, 12:01 PM There is a plot in Screech joining the New Class:
"Not only to bring back SOME of the original class fans, but he wants to complete his teen popularity in Bayside and gain more respect with the new teens."
Screech had INCOMPLETE teen popularity being with the original class. The original class was made difficult for him to join for no reason at all.
I know he is acting like a wacko in the new class, especially seasons 4-7. He was trying to be loosely entertaining and realistic on himself in Season 4 and 5. But afterwards, he became too imbalanced.
I know the New Class is completely messed up than the original class, but I just don't understand why, especially when they did NOT mention his future at the New Class series finale at all?
Mace Dolex 08-29-2013, 04:58 PM Yep. They rebuilt it for the last couple seasons but it had a different look to it.
I guess they were taking a page from Happy Days when Arnold's burned down also too bad they didn't have Screech perform and jump a shark.
ThomasE 09-22-2013, 01:33 PM Good girl!!! :clap
Ha Ha Ha. I love it.
irehtman 09-23-2013, 05:31 PM The original class should have started off with ALL normalities, no nerds at all.
Then the new class should have included nerds in it.
SBTB Geek 09-29-2013, 11:38 AM I don't think I've seen a full episode, not even the one when Zack, Lisa, and Slater return.
