Of course, they did reconcile. But this was right smack in the middle of the series. It's amazing to me such a stressful situation as this was going on behind the scenes between two vital people (Grant was running MTM Enterprises), and of course Mary was also dealing with diabetes and apparently alcohol, yet they still managed to churn out a show that was superior to almost anything else on television. Mary won the Emmy that season for best actress in a comedy series, and of course in the next few years the series would set records for most Emmys won on a single series. So when we wonder about Mary being able to stand before millions so soon after brain surgery, that may be a piece of cake for her. She's been put to the test already many times before.

Mary has been through much hell in her life, divorces deaths, illness etc....it absolutely amazes me how she is able to smile through everything.

Amen to that! Mary herself has said over the decades countless fans would come up to her and wish their lives were as 'perfect' as Mary Richards's was- and Mary now admits 'so do I'.- and considering all she's been through can anyone blame her? :crying:
It's also admirable to note that she was only late to rehearsal a single time in the entire seven years of the series despite all the personal turmoil she had to deal with!
Still, I want to think she is going to make it after all!
