If you know this song, you are probably old like me. I came across it on youtube the other day and it took me back about 40 years ago when I was a young punk. My brother and I used to play a frisbee type game with 45 RPM records. We would go out in a field and stand about 100 yards away from each other and hurl the records to each other and try to catch them in the center hole with a stick. Our only source for them was from my older sister's collection, she had hundreds. Anyway, I remember one called Master Jack by a group called Jack and Jill or something like that. She played the hell out of it,don't remember what was on the flipside but it must have sucked because there wasn't any scratches on that side. I remember how upset she got that we took that one and broke it. A couple of years later, days before her birthday, I got to thinking about getting her that song on an 8-track tape. I had about 4 dollars and some change, a lot of the tapes at the local Target store, which was about 6 miles away, sold for 3.50. So off I walked (my bike was stolen earlier that month.) After spending a lot of time searching, I finally found one by Four Jacks and a Jill, It had Master Jack on it. I looked at the price tag and it said 6 bucks, I was starting to get bummed out. Now most people have a little guy with a halo on one shoulder and a little guy with a pitchfork on the other shoulder, but I just have two little guys with pitchforks on my shoulders, so the vote was unanimous, under the waistband it must go. I was pretty fleet of foot and I didn't see anyone around who looked like they could catch me, so I began to walk out with it. My heart was beating like a fast drum and I began to sweat, even though the store was rather cool. I ended up scoring with my take and gave it to my sister on her birthday. It only lasted a week because it got gobbled up by her boyfriends bouncing 8-track player in his car. The girl who sings that song looks like agent 99 on Get Smart.
