Is there really a place for this show anymore? Is it even relevant now? Do you think the show should be canceled? Has Youtube replaced this show now?

View Full Version : Is 'America's Funniest Home Videos' Virtually Useless Now With Youtube's Emergence?!? Brian Damage 02-02-2012, 10:13 PM Is there really a place for this show anymore? Is it even relevant now? Do you think the show should be canceled? Has Youtube replaced this show now? Vahan 02-02-2012, 10:47 PM It's been irrelevant since Bob Saget left. Bob Saget was so funny on this show. Why so many loathed him on this show is way beyond me. ryan423 02-03-2012, 12:26 AM Yeah, the Bob Saget years were one of my favorite things to watch growing up. Hate Bergeron, never liked him. And yes, VERY, VERY irrelevant. mets82 02-04-2012, 04:48 PM I agree. I used to watch the Saget episodes on ABC when I was a kid but now I just think there corny. Now, its too the point where people just want to get themselves on tv more than anything else. robyrob 02-04-2012, 06:23 PM you gotta be kidding me - i honestly thought this show HAD been cancelled, like 10 years ago. Bob Saget is the man; unless they have a host that can outdo Daniel Tosh or Chris Rock, the show is pointless. LOL I agree Daniel Tosh does pretty much the same show on Comedy Central, but his comedy is what makes it "fresh and different." Mr. Television 02-04-2012, 07:43 PM I haven't watched the show since Bob Saget was on. *Pleasant Tomorrow* 02-05-2012, 02:47 AM Viva La Saget! Go home, Bob Berjadinger. The theme song from the 90's is the song of my childhood. Amerricuhhhh Americuhhhh this is youu. MrCleveland 02-06-2012, 03:55 PM I still enjoy the show. Mario500 02-06-2012, 06:28 PM The show remains useful in spite of YouTube, which is known for more than funny home videos. Unlike YouTube, the show is dedicated to funny videos and prizes are offered to the creators of some of those videos. Yeah, the Bob Saget years were one of my favorite things to watch growing up. Hate Bergeron, never liked him. And yes, VERY, VERY irrelevant. Hate is a strong feeling. You may not like the host, but don't hate the person (I liked Tom Bergeron and Bob Saget as hosts). old grouch 02-07-2012, 11:02 AM For ABC, it's still useful because it's cheap programming and fills a time slot that is usually hard to schedule. (Sunday 7/6 central.) ryan423 02-08-2012, 02:05 AM The show remains useful in spite of YouTube, which is known for more than funny home videos. You may not like the host, but don't hate the person (I liked Tom Bergeron and Bob Saget as hosts). No need to preach. I feel one way, you feel another. I'm not wrong for having an opinion. Pavan 02-08-2012, 07:54 AM Tom Bergeron is probably the best host on TV right now. He is witty and quick, especially on live TV on Dancing with the Stars. I never cared for Bob Saget as a host. James28 02-08-2012, 11:09 AM In current times, America's Funniest Home Videos is essentially a franchise zombie (a long-running show that has run its course and would still be airing new episodes at an inappropriate time) and if I were president of ABC entertainment, I would have no choice but to get rid of it. The Sunday 7/6 central timeslot usually has newsmagazines such as 60 Minutes and Dateline. yankeesrj12 02-08-2012, 05:49 PM ABC has problems other than the 7pm timeslot to worry about. This show will still be around for years to come. James28 02-10-2012, 04:03 AM If ABC gets rid of AFHV, should they air a newsmagazine or reruns or just dump the Sunday 7/6 slot and sell it back to its affiliates? So it isn't going anywhere. |
