As if to further drive home the point that its “imaginative reinvention” of The Munsters will bare little resemblance to the classic ’60s version, NBC is giving the reboot a new moniker.

Sources confirm to TVLine exclusively that the title of the pilot — which is being stewarded by Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller and X-Men auteur Bryan Singer — has been changed from The Munsters to Mockingbird Lane.

The new handle is, of course, a nod to the family’s iconic Victorian abode, which is situated at 1313 Mockingbird Lane.

The project is currently in the casting stage, so there’s still time for Fuller/Singer/NBC to consult our dream picks for Herman, Lily and the rest of the creepy brood.

How many TV Remakes/Reboots do we need?


None to be honest, but I am beginning to get a little curious how they "reimagine" The Munsters as a dramedy.

{a wife runs into her living room, screaming in terror}
HUSBAND: [grabbing her] Violet, what is it?
WIFE: (in stark horror) Petey.....Petey is.....is......
HUSBAND: Will you get a hold of yourself?? What about Petey???
WIFE: (in sheer horror) He's...he's been----- EATEN.
HUSBAND: EATEN??!!!! Violet, have you been cleaning the bathroom with that goofy stuff again?
WIFE: (terrified) Paul, I saw Petey. He....he was.....dead. And he was-----half of him was still on the lawn.....
HUSBAND: I don't believe you. {goes over to the picture window facing the front lawn} I'll admit there are some occasions where a gopher or squirrel have nipped that dog, but......(eyes glazed in horror) Oh, no.....
WIFE: (tonelessly) I told you. I TOLD YOU......
HUSBAND: (in shock) Who would do such a thing....?

[exterior of 1313 Mockingbird Lane, just down the street]
{Lily Munster, in the living room, is scolding Eddie}
LILY: Eddie.....did Spot help himself to another nocturnal snack last night?
EDDIE: No, Mom, honest! He was with me all night! We were playing 'Dungeons and Dragons'....I was the dungeon.
LILY: Well, someone helped themselves to that dog across the street! I just saw Mrs. Zucker running into her house...and half of that dog wasn't following her.
EDDIE: Which one?
LILY: The half that couldn't hear her screaming!
HERMAN: {entering the room} Lily! Lily! I've just heard from Grandpa! He's bringing Uncle Julius home in a few minutes...
LILY: (cross) I don't care if Uncle Julius is coming by split wing!! Your.....(a thought comes to her) Herman....what time did Uncle Julius arrive last night?
HERMAN: I don't know. After you...tucked me into bed, I was....fast asleep.
LILY: And Grandpa told me he was meeting Uncle Julius under the full moon when he arrived. (a sense of dread) Herman.....you don't suppose that-
HERMAN: Well, Grandpa told me Uncle Julius said he was as hungry as a horse when he swooped in...
LILY: (deadpan) I think Uncle Julius helped himself to more than just oats last night.....

I just don't have a good feeling about this one. Hawaii Five-O is about the only remake I've liked in recent years and even that one isn't as good as the original.

I think "1313 Mockingbird Lane" would have been better, but anyway, I didn't realize the creator of "Pushing Daisies" was behind this. In that case, I think this show has some potential.

I just wish they would use the original facade of their mansion which is still standing on the Universal lot.

I liked the original Munsters as well as Pushing Daisies so I'm curious to see how the reboot will be done.

To me, a remake of any classic show from the 60's is just a modern version done in poorer taste.
