Is that the case? I just saw the episode where Murray gets his daughter Bonnie hired. It was Mary who hired Bonnie. So I am guessing that Mary is Murray Slaughter's boss?

I don't know, but although Lou was the boss and everyone else had their own job there, all reported to Lou. Perhaps Mary was in charge of the hiring for that position. I don't recall all the details of that ep.

Thanks for the reply :)

I never really thought Mary was a boss like Lou Grant was, but after this episode I think she was Murray's superior.

Mary had no direct reports; everyone reported to Lou, who was the producer. Mary was the associate producer, which simply means she was the one Lou delegated all the producer responsibilities to that he didn't want to do. It was a thankless job.
