February 22, 2010 -- A week after being last seen alive, 41-year-old actor/filmmaker Andrew Koenig was reported missing by his parents--dad Walter, a former Trekkie, and his wife of 45 years, Judy--in Vancouver, Canada.
Over the course of the next 3 1/2 days, family, friends, & former colleagues of Andrew begin a desperate plea that their friend would be safe & alive.
However, on February 25, 2010, Walter, with Judy by his side, made a TEARFUL announcement to the Associated Press as a parent that NO PARENT should EVER have to make: My son took his own life.
As someone who has survived a suicide attempt (and contemplated suicide twice before the actual attempt), I have three words I wish Andrew had heard: IT GETS BETTER.
