Sorry, Steve Jones. The powers that be at "The X Factor" are sending you home.

The British TV personality revealed on Monday via Twitter that he would not be returning to the show. "I won't be hosting next season's X Factor which is a shame, but I can't complain as I've had a great time," he tweeted.

"Good luck to everyone on the show."

It is unclear who the show may tap to fill his spot in Season 2.

"The X Factor" will return for Season 2 this fall on Fox.

And Scherzinger, too.

On the heels of Brit personality Steve Jones announcing that he will not be returning as host of the Stateside adaptation of The X Factor, it’s also been confirmed that Nicole Scherzinger is parting ways with the Fox series as well.

Today at The X Factor was a bloodbath which just claimed its biggest name. Not only was host Steve Jones let go and judge Nicole Scherzinger exited from the Fox show, but now a Simon Cowell insider just told me that his longtime friend and American Idol colleague Paula Abdul won’t be returning as an X Factor judge next season. I understand from sources that none of the three left on their own accord and that it was cleaning house day at the so-so rated show.

The firings of Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger and Steve Jones were justified, says Peter Larsen and Michael Hewitt, but Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid weren't that much better. "Paula and Nicole were terrible as judges/mentors," the say, adding: "Steve was stiff and cold as the host. His main focus was to make the judges stop talking, and he wasn’t very good at that. The contestants he treated as warmly as his cue cards."
