View Full Version : Dreams?
The Flying Dutchmans 01-23-2012, 10:48 PM When you fall asleep, are there any particular things you dream about more than others? My sister keeps dreaming that she is flying, and wonders why people she sees n the dream don't notice it. She said she was probably a bird in a former life. But do those kind of things on carry over to another life? I keep dreaming I am on a ship sinking and am very cold, more like freezing to death in the dream. My sister likes to think she can translate these things and said I probably died on the Titanic. I have never seen an iceberg in my dreams, but if I did, I would believe her. BTW these dreams started as a kid, long before I knew anything about the Titanic. A guy I work with says he dreams about money all of the time and said when he gets it in the dream, it slips away and he starts falling to his death. My sister said he was probably a stock broker or company president in 1929 and was rich, but when the stock market crash hit, he probably jumped out of a building to his death. Really crazy stuff, dreams. I do not know if I believe in reincarnation, but if it wwere real, that would certainly explain allot of things.
tiredmike59 01-23-2012, 11:27 PM I keep dreaming about all the friends and relatives I had that have died. They are all together, even the ones who didn't know each other. It always takes place in one of my old neighborhoods, some of them never knew the neighborhood but they are there anyway. They keep trying to keep me there but I am always in a hurry to leave. It gets real depressing and kind of scary too. That's one reason I seldom sleep.
robyrob 01-24-2012, 10:57 AM when I was younger I would dream about all sorts of wacky stuff, now if I actually dream its more likely to be a strange fantasy where I get to sleep undisturbed for more than 6 consecutive hours.
cablejockey 01-24-2012, 11:04 AM I find myself running, hiding, trying to get away from something unknown in this city that seems familiar when I am there, but have never been there in real life. Some mornings I wake up exhausted as if I really was running all night!
Miss Lisa 01-24-2012, 07:11 PM The only time I usually remember my dreams is when I am sick, and that usually has something to do with a mental hospital. It's mostly the same place, looks kind of like a cross between the one on Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen and the hospital scene from Jacob's Ladder.
ZeldaGilroy 01-25-2012, 10:40 PM The only dream I have that repeats is one where my teeth keep falling out and no one seems to notice or care. I wake up scared everytime I have these dreams too. I hate them!
I've read in a dream interpretation book that losing teeth in dreams means that you are afraid of losing someone close to you or losing control in your life. That makes sense to me considering the times I tend to have the dreams.
MrCleveland 01-25-2012, 10:48 PM I have dreams about friends and family members I know in the past and present.
IllinoisTVFan 01-26-2012, 01:34 AM I think dreams symbolize things though we don't know why. My most common recurrent dream is of drive-in movie theatres.I have had these dreams since I was a child and they always vary. I have dreamt I was in the middle of nowhere and a screen is there. Other times I see them tearing down the screen and still other times I am at a drive-in at a location I know there never was one. I have no idea what this means but I suspect it either means I have a tendency to "screen" things out, or maybe has to do with my childhood and how we went to the drive-in almost every week in the summer as a child.
My most recent recurrent dreams are about packing and moving from weird places. For instance I have been dreaming about my former job and former cubicle and in this dream I am packing my stuffed animals and moving. Rather odd because I never kept stuffed animals there and never kept anything personal.
What are strange are the dreams that are relevant to current events in my life. For example 2 years ago I reunited with the guy I always thought was my soulmate and the night we spoke the first time in 10 years I dreamt I married him. The entire time we were talking I would have dreams we either got married or had babies (and assume we were married). Once we split up and never had contact again these dreams stopped.
I've also had dreams that I was a cast member of long ago show or member of a rock band. That was interesting.
Family Ties Forever! 01-26-2012, 02:56 AM Once in awhile I will have a dream [nightmare] where I'm underneath sand, water or something like it, but never seem to be able to get to the top and get free. I don't like small enclosed spaces, esp. if you can get trapped in it.
There have been a couple times where I have woken up from a dream/nightmare and noticed I had been crying while asleep.
The only dream I have that repeats is one where my teeth keep falling out and no one seems to notice or care. I wake up scared everytime I have these dreams too. I hate them! ZeldaGilroy 01-26-2012, 07:36 AM Wow, I have had a few dreams where I lose my teeth. It's scary and I never understood why.
I know! One of the scariest feeling dreams and I'm not sure why it feels so frightening. Glad to know I am not alone in these dreams.
KurtfromPitts 01-28-2012, 11:43 AM I frequently have dreams that are set in the former auto row of Pittsburgh, Baum Boulevard and Liberty Avenue. I don't know why.
tiredmike59 01-29-2012, 03:44 AM I remember reading somewhere that the only way a person can die in a dream is to actually die in their sleep. I don't think I ever had a dream where I have died. It seems that when I have one that looks like I'm a goner, something always happens to change it. Once I dreamed I was being chased by a werewolf and I only had one shoe on so I hid behind some bushes. But just as the werewolf spotted me, The dream changed, and I was playing checkers with a drunken Art Carney. It's almost as if someone was channel surfing my dreams.
snowcreature23 01-30-2012, 01:34 AM I still remember this think I was about 10 I was in bed and then I looked out the window I saw a UFO come down in my back yard and the door open and these big space creatures they were all different they did not make any noise they grappd me out the bed and took my feets and hands and they dragged me into the hall which my mom's door was half open and they started to strch me and I try ed to yell for her and they closed the door and still they streched me then I was back in bed and saw the UFO took off.almost COUGH 50 AND STILL REMEMBER.
Ohio8 02-08-2012, 10:02 PM A lot of times my dreams are about family and friends who've died. And three times I've had dreams that've told me that celebrities, including Farrah Fawcett, have died the night (or day) I've had that dream.
ShamelessFanGirl 02-08-2012, 10:39 PM I am lucky if I even remember my dreams, but when I do I usually dream about my family and friends.
The Flying Dutchmans 02-11-2012, 01:36 AM Another one I keep having is, I am in a small town in the mid west and just before it starts to get dark, I see clouds forming on the sky and off in the far distance I se a huge Tornado coming at the town, but in a way it's kind of facinating in the dream. I watch as the tornado gets closer and try to warn everyone of it's coming. In the street, people are arguing about something, but not about the Tornado. Once the tornado hits, it picks people up and slams them down on the cement as a monster would, and kills them. I continue to try to warn people but the people I warn don't seem to care. The funny thing is, the Tornado never touches me. It sucks everyone else up, but leaves me alone. How weird is that?
