We're just a little over a month from the release of the Season Five DVD set. One of my favorite episodes from that season guest stars Petula Clark. I happened to hear her yesterday in a live radio interview from New York where she's performing at Feinstein's: http://feinsteinsattheregency.com/performance.php?id=582

She was asked in the interview about this new remake of her hit Downtown by the Irish group, the Saw Doctors, and also featuring her. She looks and sounds great:

The image of her on Here's Lucy is so indelibly etched in my head, it's hard for me to believe she's now 79. Then again, she was almost 40 then, but looked much younger.

I'm assuming she really was pregnant in that episode; her youngest child, Patrick, was born in 1972. (I don't suppose pregnancy would have been an acceptable excuse to turn down a job on a Lucille Ball show!) Her real-life husband, Claude Wolff, makes a cameo appearance in the episode. They have now been married over 50 years!

I like Petula Clark too, sadly she and her husband have been separated for a number of years now but are still married.

That is sad! Here I was thinking they had beaten the odds. Still, they had a very long run. But now that they're grandparents, it is too bad they couldn't keep it together.

Petula looks amazing at 79.

Seeing her in that Here's Lucy episode she slightly looks like that supermodel/actress Twiggy.

I saw her at the Regency...she sounds and looks great still, and is a super person who agreed to meet with fans after the show!

Thanks for sharing. This doesn't surprise me. I've never met her or seen her in person, but in interviews she comes across as a very down-to-earth person and appreciative of her fans. Lucky you, you got to hear her live!

I always notice the chubby blonde backup singer in this episode who is wearing a:lol: god-awful wig. It's so obvious that it's not her real hair.

I hearing more women having children later in life. Pet was 39-40 when her son was born. I was born later in my mom's life . Does Petula have other children.

In 1962 she was 29. Interesting. 32 when "Downtown" hit the airwaves.

We shouldn't make fun of people, but your statement about the back up singer made me laugh. If I see this episode, I will look for the blonde backup singer.
