When I heard that Martina was putting out a new greatest hits collection I was very excited. With eleven studio albums under her belt and four classic songs off her 2001 greatest hits album this could have been an amazing collection, a great retrospective of Martina's amazing career. However, released by Martina's old record lable I think Martina McBride Hits & More is one of the biggest disappointments as far greatest hits collections that I have ever seen,

Don't get me wrong, every song on this CD is good, including three new tracks. That problem is that it barely scratches the surface of her career. There are just so many great songs, including some that were included on her far better 2001 Greatest Hits like "Wrong Again" that were not included here. Also, why only one song off of Waking Up Laughing? I think this collection should really have been a 2 cd set or a one Cd collection that containes only songs she's recorded since her first hits album.

It's just a quick attempt by RCA to get more money off of her since she left them. This isn't the first time a former label became bitter and released a half-assed collection of songs, without the artist having any input in the project.

I'm sure someday Martina will release a second, official greatest hits album on her own which will cover 2003 and forward. I am just taking this one for what it is, and enjoying the previously unreleased tracks. Being Myself was previously released in 2004 on a Target-exclusive album entitled On Target. It was originally recorded for Greatest Hits, but I'm not sure which albums the other two songs were meant to be on.

"Surrender" is my favorite of the unrelesed tracks. I actually thought that thery were new songs and not just unreleased ones. The songs picked for the collection are all great songs its just that the CD is hardly a good representation of her career.

I agree. This could have been a much better representation of her body of work. Of the three newer songs, I like "Straight to the Bone" and "Being Myself" best.

I also really enjoy that song. Yeah, since she isn't on that label anymore, and since they released the album without her having any say in it, she didn't record anything new for it. To me, Surrender sounds a bit older, and my guess is that it was recorded during the time period of Emotion.
