Granted, it is the HORRIBLE National Enquirer, who are known to make up their fair share of stories, but still, how are they allowed to do this? I know Mary is sick, but she has been sick for years and with her lifetime achievement SAG award coming up, I think this is an absolute disgrace!

Well, of course. Consider the source. It's the same magazine that says O.J. is Khloe K.'s dad!

Well, I certainly hope it's not true. The NE is a heartless rag, for sure, but they do occasionally get scoops.

Whatever the case, I hate these tabloids that post demeaning and shocking photos of very ill celebs. It is truly an invasion of privacy and we have no right or interest in seeing them. If someone is very ill, let them have their dignity.

they still have magazines?

i think they meant that the National Enquirer is near death, and is in the advanced stages of senility so will say anything out of desperation just to get attention.

I *think* they took that photo of Mary after her brain surgery early last year.

sad to hear about Angelina's cancer being pregnant though - at least I assume that's a bad thing?

Did you notice how bad her speech was... Very slow and specific. I wonder if it is related to the brain surgery she had.

I love MTM... But I think her health troubles are catching up to her.

Well, considering that she DID have brain surgery this past year, and don't forget she's lost much of her eyesight--I think her presentation was remarkable!! God bless her for even being there and standing on that stage!!!!

Good health or bad, Mary Tyler Moore is an inspiration to me for standing up to all the challenges that she has faced in her life. It is a brave person to stand before millions on TV like she did last week at Betty White's birthday like she did and I think that was, well .... she can still turn the world on with her smile.

I agree- yet when Carol Burnett expressed the wish to be there for Betty's 100th Birthday, I couldn't shake the feeling that Betty would be more likely to make it for that occasion than Mary! :(
Yes, I pray Mary will have many happy, healthy years ahead but right now she doesn't seem in the best state of health.:crying:

One thing, that photo is most certainly from when Mary had her brain surgery, which is very unfair. Of course, no one has ever accused The National Enquirer of being fair. But regarding Mary's current condition, she's had some difficulty in the last couple years with her vision as a result of the diabetes. As for her speaking abilities during Betty White's birthday special, I can just about guarantee you that's a result of the brain surgery. Brain surgery is never a minor deal. I had a friend who had a benign brain tumor and had to have surgery to get it removed because it could have grown and caused problems. This was a young guy in his mid 20s, not a 75 year-old, and the effects of the surgery on him were very obvious: Before the surgery, he seemed perfectly normal. After the surgery, he had memory and speaking problems. It takes a long time to recover from brain surgery. Mary Tyler Moore's willingness to stand before an audience of millions so soon after brain surgery speaks volumes not only about her bravery, but also about what a true and loyal friend she is to Betty White.

So how do you think Mary looked when she was presented her SAG Award, compared to the night of Betty's 90th?

Again, I thought she did very well with her speech considering what she's been through this year. There seemed to be an awkward moment at the end of her presentation, where it looked like she was staring into the monitor kind of in a daze. Dick Van Dyke saved the day by kissing her on the cheek, and she said thank you.

I don't know if Mary was disoriented, or if it was the result of the confusion from the evacuation of the theatre because of a bomb threat, earlier. At any rate, just like on Betty's night, this was her night, and she had the courage to stand on that stage in front of millions! God bless her for that!

Very inspiring, Mary appearing for Betty's celebration, and accepting her lifetime achievement award from the SAG after her surgery, which of course was no minor thing. It's obvious to me Mary is as tough as she is beautiful, talented, and smart.

All the best wishes for such a lovely lady, especially regarding her health.

Mary looked great at the SAGS! Too bad about the awkward moment at the end of her speech - I think they were supposed to dim the lights, cue the music, and have someone come help her make her way off the stage, and they were late doing that. I think she doesn't want people to see the difficulties she has in getting around due to loss of vision and neurological problems from the diabetes - but I hope that doesn't make her too shy about doing public appearances. Mary - we'd rather see you than not!!

I'm sorry to hear that she had brain surgery, has lost a lot of her vision and has diabetes. Did she have cancer and that's why she had brain surgery?

I think she did well at Betty White's 90th birthday special. I didn't watch the SAG's.

It is seriously horrifying to me that the National Enquirer took a picture of Mary the day after she had brain surgery. That is completely disgusting.
