Anyone have any "new" information on this? I haven't seen the segment in years and had read on another website that the treasure was discovered but can't find any other source that says this. I've read the wikipedia entry on it and there's no mention of anything being found. Is this over on the forbidden website?

Found this website with a ton of information about the canyon. The guy actually started out trying to debunk the tale as nothing more than a myth, but turns out he found proof that the Adams story was real.

Bizarre request: I'm watching this episode for probably the fourth time in my life, and I have the same question I've had the last few times. Does anyone know who played Adams in this episode?
It's one of those impossibly rare times when an actor performed well on Unsolved Mysteries.
Yet his name isn't listed on imdb.

I do not know who the actor is. The odds are, if he isn't listed on IMDB or if you cannot find any reference to him acting on UM, he was probably a local actor hired for this segment.

:( You agree with me that he crushed it, though, right?

Definitely. He was one of the best actors featured on UM.
