When Swedish hitchhikers, Marie Lilienburg and Maria Wahlen, were murdered in 1983, a tip was received that their killer was a man named "Loren". It's been suspected that "Loren" could possibly have been Loren Herzog, a.k.a "The Speed Freak Killer", who was paroled in 2010. Well, it looks like Herzog has just committed suicide by hanging himself.

The bad news: If he killed Lilienburg and Wahlen, he took that secret with him to his grave.

The good news: Rumours abound that Herzog's suicide was brought on by the fact that his partner in crime, Wesley Shermantine, who is currently on death row, may soon be disclosing the location of the bodies of their other victims. If they were responsible for the deaths of the Swedish hitchhikers, he could conceivably make a confession about it.

But then again, police official are very skeptical about Shermantine and think he may simply just be playing games, considering that he's asked for reward money to reveal the locations of his victims. I'll still keep my eyes out for any further developments.

!!!! Whoa! I was reading about all the murders he had committed. I'm really glad he's not out on the streets, but the $%# couldn't have at least admitted his part? I've read about him and the other guy on Charley Project. Sick, sick individuals.
