As if Ryan Seacrest weren't busy enough, he's starting up a new cable channel.

The "American Idol" host is partnering with Mark Cuban, entertainment company AEG and talent firm Creative Artists Agency to create AXS (short for "access"), a new pop culture channel expected to premiere in late spring, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Cuban's HDNet channel will be rebranded AXS over the next several months. The new offering will boast live concerts and lifestyle shows, aimed at entertainment aficionados.

The planned flagship show, AXS Live, will be what Cuban describes as ESPN's SportsCenter for pop culture and music.

Dish Network plans to broaden its reach to about 35 million homes, increasing its carriage by about 10 million homes for AXS.

Whatever. Seacrest is a businessman who has been afforded the opportunity to invest in several ventures becaue of his wealth. Regardless of your opinion of his personality of American Idol, he nevertheless has the money to establish himself as formidable producer of television, regardless of the Kardashion garbage he has let himself become associated with. The villain persona he has been stuck with because of it is ridiculous. Many successful, respected business-focused people have earned their fortune by being associated with less-than-reputable losers such as the Kardashians, and yet somehow their reputations have not been tarnihed by such associations. No jugdement here. Good for him for earning his millions off of morons such as the Kardashians and the idiotic American public. Not his fault that the viewers of the E! channel are such pathetic morons.

Too bad. HDNet was a great channel. Comcast doesn't carry it, but the few times I've had the opportunity to watch it, I've enjoyed it.
