View Full Version : Happy 40th Anniversary to 'Sanford & Son!' Brian Damage 01-14-2012, 01:26 PM January 14th, 1972 - NBC-TV debuted "Sanford & Son." http://www.theclevelandfan.com/images/stories/Sanford-and-Son-tv-16.jpg Retro4Life 01-14-2012, 04:35 PM I actually remember the premiere; I was quite young, about 7, and there was LOT of promotion for this show, as it was the next big hit from Norman Lear, who's AITF was on fire on that time. Great show, I still get a big kick out of it. TVFactFan 01-20-2012, 08:02 PM Well we defintely don't need to see a anniversary on TV LAND LOL Mr. Television 01-20-2012, 08:25 PM I actually remember the premiere; I was quite young, about 7, and there was LOT of promotion for this show, as it was the next big hit from Norman Lear, who's AITF was on fire on that time. Great show, I still get a big kick out of it. I actually remember watching that episode too. I was only 6 at the time. It's hard to believe it's been 40 years. Retro4Life 01-21-2012, 12:08 PM Sonny, I remember the TV Guide ad for it...with Fred in the foreground with that "cat that swallowed the canary" smile and his trademark cap. God, I miss the 70's, lol. rollo's girl 01-21-2012, 08:17 PM yeah, and good ol' TVLand commemorated the anniversary by taking SnS off it's regular lineup. Another brilliant scheduling move by a used-to-be-great network. Thanks for nothing. catlover79 01-21-2012, 08:20 PM 40 years later, the humor and characters still feel as fresh as ever. :D TVFactFan 01-21-2012, 08:52 PM yeah, and good ol' TVLand commemorated the anniversary by taking SnS off it's regular lineup. TVFactFan 01-21-2012, 09:22 PM Solomon, some people don't get Antenna TV and so what if it is complete on DVD? TV Land should commemorate its Anniversary. I wish I would have started saving TV Guides from the 70's. lol Brian Damage 01-21-2012, 09:25 PM TV Land commemorated the 39th anniversary last year-LOL Are you being serious or just joking? TVFactFan 01-21-2012, 09:30 PM Are you being serious or just joking? You know what I mean, S&S has been on TV land forever and I'm sure they did something for the 35th anniversary. But this isn't good news because if they are not celebrating the 40th anniversary of S&S, then that means it will be no celebration of Norman Lear's 90th birthday in August Brian Damage 01-21-2012, 09:32 PM You know what I mean, S&S has been on TV land forever and I'm sure they did something for the 35th anniversary.
