To refresh everyone's memory, Bonnie Craig was an Alaskan teenager who vanished on her way to college on the morning of September 28, 1994. She was later discovered raped, beaten and murdered in a creek below a cliff. It was originally thought that her mom's undercover police work had put Bonnie in harm's way and that a drug kingpin had her killed, but DNA from her body was linked to a soldier named Kenneth Dion in 2006 and he was charged with her murder in 2008 and sentenced in June 2011. Have you seen the original Unsolved Mysteries episode and/or the NBC episode yet?

I don't remember this from UM and it's certainly a case I would have. I watched the Dateline show and was very impressed. It certainly put me in mind of the best UM segments.

I learned alot more from the Dateline NBC episode that I didn't know before. I also found that her mother Karen has a Facebook account and was monitoring her daughter's story on Dateline NBC's Facebook page.

It was an interesting show. It was nice to hear them talk about about how friendly, sweet and bubbly Bonnie was and to hear from her siblings. The guy who murdered her is such a creep! Sitting there so defiant and its aggravating to know he was charged back in 2007 (13 years after her murder) and it took 4 1/2 years to convict and sentence him with all the legal wrangling his attorney apparently pulled. Here's an article:

Wish I would have seen this. Probably catch it in a rerun. By coincidence, I happened to have watched the original UM segment on this yesterday.

One thing that I didn't like is that because people accused of crimes have the right to face their accusers, Bonnie's mom going incognito in these drug deals meant nothing. Her name was all over the paperwork, so the criminals could easily trace her and get revenge. Because of this, I can see why they initially thought this was a retaliation murder.
