Although Nelson recorded three albums’ worth of material at Epic, only one LP was released during the singer’s lifetime, 1977’s Intakes. Musical renaissance man Al Kooper produced the intended follow-up, Back to Vienna, but the album collected dust on the Epic shelf, while Rockabilly Renaissance – a commercial prospect if there ever was one, with Nelson returning to his musical roots – was posthumously overdubbed. Although the original albums have all seen the light of day in the compact disc age, The Complete Epic Recordings, due out February 28, will mark the American debut of 11 of its 41 tracks. James Ritz has produced and written the liner notes, while Rockabilly Renaissance was restored to its original format by Bear Family’s Richard Weize.

I'm wondering if all the material on this release is already on the Last Time Around Bear Family Set?

From reading the info on the link, I would say yes, but when it's listed on amazon (which it isn't yet), then we can see the track listing.

Good to see that there's still enough interest in Rick's music to merit the release.

Yes, that's true, I will have to remember to check Amazon. I have the Bear Family Sets, they are great.

Agreed, the Bear Family sets are great--not quite flawless in how they were compiled, but still, to have nearly all of Rick's recordings (and some things that had never been released before) in three box sets like that is great. Plus, the books that come with the sets are all a treasure trove of information, photos, and memorabilia of Rick and the entire Nelson family.

I seem to remember in the book in the first set, there is a reproduction of a note written by Lew Chudd (president of Imperial Records, where Rick released most of his biggest hits) that says something about how he (Chudd) met with Ozzie when he signed Rick, and Ozzie ate "more ice cream than Baskin Robbins makes!"

It says this compliation has 41 songs and I can't wait to see which ones. I don't have The Last Time Around yet but if they are the same, I'd rather get The Last Time Around.

This made me LOL!
