What IF Rhoda had stayed on The Mary Tyler Moore Show? Could a spin-off revolving around just Rhoda's crazy family survived without her? Were the characters strong enough?

I always thought once the Rhoda spinoff happened, there might have been a
spinoff with Martin and Ida.
Maybe though if that had happened,Ida as a regular weekly character would
have been toned down, like Phyllis in her spinoff.
No,Rhoda was a good spinoff but a spinoff about Rhoda's Family without Rhoda,no.

I agree, It likely wouldn't have worked.
However if it had happened, Nancy Walker and Harold Gould would have to have been "the stars". Also, they would have needed more castmembers. Debbie AND Brenda both need to be there, with one of them being the "Rhoda" type, newly married. Brother, Arnold should be introduced. (Ida would be meddling in all of their affairs). Brett Somers could have been cast as Aunt Rose, a regular. Grandmother Morgenstern could have been a character. The more I think about it, maybe it could have worked, while keeping our beloved Rhoda on TMTMS! :)
