Hallmark has, to me anyway, what has to be the most bipolar scheduling team in the history of broadcast medium. One day it's up, one day it's down, one day it's gone, one day it's here. I mean, seriously ... keep shows on where they're originally scheduled or just never schedule to begin with.

So far, the Monday to Friday 8 am to 10 am slot is still listed on the Hallmark Channel Schedule website all the way through January. As a matter of fact, it pretty well takes us at least partway through Season 4 -- the 9:30 am slot on Friday the 27th is the Moo Goo Gai Pan episode, "Over the River and Through the Wood". If Hallmark is going to change it during the month, their website does not reflect that.

I just checked DirecTV's online guide. Hallmark Channel has TBNS in the same slot all the way through the 19th, which is as far as the guide goes today. For DirecTV folks on the west coast, the show is on at 5 am.

That's gotta be a record. :lol: I remember when Hallmark aired Family Ties several years ago and it lasted about 3 weeks before they yanked it.


Airing The Bob Newhart Show late at night is actually a good idea. Lower expectations, so it has a much better chance of sticking around for a while. I don't recall hearing about any shows in the past few years getting yanked from the schedule during the late night hours without airing most or all the episodes at least once.

That's true, but at least it's still on. 8am - 10am wasn't much better. I don't know when they could air it and expect to get decent ratings. To their credit, Hallmark did promote the show, they just changed their minds too quickly. I think it's an unusual show(but great show) for Hallmark to air since it's much older than their other shows and not as "family friendly".

Not for nothing, but how the hell does Hallmark Channel stay in business? I mean there really the only station I know that actually moves there schedule on a day to day basis. I mean the way they pulled the plug on Empty Nest and how they move all these other shows is sickening. Not to mention the usual things: cutting up episodes, no end credits etc.

The Waltons and Little House are family friendly. The other shows like Golden Girls, Cheers and Frasier while not family friendly are newer than Bob Newhart and have been in reruns non-stop since they left the air. Even MASH which started when Bob Newhart did has been on the air non stop so that's why those shows are still on. I think that's the main problem with the Bob Newhart show, sadly. Out of sight, out of mind.

I was surprised they aired Empty Nest as long as they did. At least they aired all the Kristy McNichol episodes, but I had a hell of a time trying to record them all with all those crazy timeslots. :crazy: Not sure I would do that again, too much trouble.


They did voiceovers and butchered the end credits of Frasier for a while when they first started airing it. I believe they got a bunch of complaints and finally fixed that. I wonder if that would work if people complained about the other shows?

It wasn't yanked off the schedule, it was MOVED to 2am to 4am

Not surprised Newhart was moved. The core audience for Hallmark seems only interested in viewing Golden Girls, I Love Lucy, The Waltons and Little House ad nauseam. I'm surprised Frasier does so well. I've been enjoying Newhart in the morning. It was fun for a brief moment.

Now that "The Martha Stewart Show"and all the rest of the shows in her block have been cancelled by the Hsllmark Channel(by the way,does Martha Stewart own The Hallmark Channel?),maybe they will air The Bob Newhart Show AFTER The Golden Girls in the morning,or better yet,in the afternoon.Biut I doubt it.

I don't label "Golden Girls" as a family show because most children don't find the humor of older people funny. My girls always found it boring and walked away, when they were young. (Now they see their parents in it, and find THAT funny. But they're now adults, too.)

Here's what I've done, to see if the rumor is true: Bob Newhart comes on here (CA DirecTV) from 5 am to 7 am. I've left my DVR set to record at those hours. But I also went and set it to record from 11 pm Monday to 1 am Tuesday. Currently, CHEERS and FRASIER are in those slots. We'll see on Tuesday, whether I'll have TBNS labeled as CHEERS and FRASIER, or if I will have 2 episodes each of CHEERS and FRASIER. I will report here when I know, or others should if they determine it sooner.

My DVR is set, as there's no way I will still be up at those hours.

I hope that the channel leaves it there for awhile, to gain an audience. Or at least finishes the 6 season run for us.
