I do not get Me-TV,and watch The Bob Newhart Show on The Hallmark Channel,and it's a welcome addition.I only have one question.For those of you who can get Me-tv and have seen The Bob Newhart Show ,do they do the same thing Hallmark does,and by that I mean that Hallmark speeds up the opening,and closing credits ,or do they treat the show with respect,.by slowing the opening credits,and air the full-screen closing credits exactly as they aired on the CBS network run?

They run the full credits. The only down side to Me-TV and their handling of the show is that they never run Season 6

I only caught it brieflly on Monday, but it appears the Hallmark opening has been reduced to a quick showing of stills of the title card and credits, an unfortunate wholesale slaughter of that great opening of Bob (or his stand-in) making his way home to Emily. The closing credits were squashed to the lower third of the screen, making them unreadable. Like many here, I was hoping to record the last two seasons to finish my collection. Now I'm not so sure. Better than nothing, but not much better.

I just don't understand why these shows are butchered so, only to have the networks pull them off quicky, shrug their shoulders and say that there is no interest in the older shows. Those of us who want to watch are too repulsed to watch! :confused:

Yes, I did email the network a few years ago. Unfortunately, they never responded. I have obtained a patch work version of the sixth season on dvd, but half of it is the chopped up tv-land version from several years ago.

That's definitely a question that needs an answer because it's very ODD to keep skipping a certain season of a show.

TBNS hasn't been on TV Land for about 15 years, so those patchwork versions go back!

About the 5th and 6th seasons: Amazon has had them listed as "preorder" since this past summer. I keep getting email from Amazon, apologizing that they haven't gotten a release date on each. I believe there MAY be royalty/residual rights problems, or at least that's the impression I got from some that are more "in the know". Back when Suzie's Hollywood Star ceremony took place, I managed to catch up with Peter Bonerz, and as he was signing a TV guide for me, I asked him about the release of the 2 seasons. His answer? "When pigs fly!" (It sounded SO like Jerry!)

I don't know how the shows are on Me-TV...my satellite company does not have that channel. However, these on Hallmark are cut up about as badly as Hallmark cut up IDOJ, years back. Ugh. Makes me so mad, but glad that I have my first four seasons!

Like many here, I do hope that Hallmark shows the last 2 seasons.

Your'e right, ME does not show season 6. It's one of the oddest syndication setups I've seen--and you'd think it would be duplicated with other contracts--but Hallmark had it. And I remember a local station here in Indianapolis had it, years ago. Other odd setups I can recall--the odd division of My Three Sons episodes, which has seasons 11 and 12 with the black and white package--with the result that seasons 11 and 12 are never shown. And the chopped up old Screen Gems package that TV Land had about ten years ago, which had very early episodes only, of several old BW shows.

ME-TV is beginning to be a "pile of sh*t" due to the reasons below

1. Won't air season 6 of Bob Newhart

2. Won't air the finale of Mary Tyler Moore

I agree, but I've read of it happening before. Heck there are companies that only manage to get the rights of a few season of a show that they release on DVD, I think that happened with Facts of Life.

Personally I'll take it cause I'm addicted to TBNS since I got ME TV

ME-TV seems to air some series directly from their DVD sets. The Andy Griffith Show and The Dick Van Dyke Show are two examples of this. On The Andy Griffith Show, they have only aired the black-and-white episodes made between 1960 and 1965. They are planning to air The Mothers In Law later this month, and they will probably be from that (excellent) DVD set as well. I don't know how they get the rights to air the DVD rather than the official syndication package, but perhaps that is what they are doing with The Bob Newhart Show, and they just don't have season six for some reason.

Well that still doesn't explain it because season 5 is not on DVD and Me-TV airs that season.

Also even FamNET TV also aired the 6th and final season of TBNS as well as the series finale of that show.

And even the closing credits from Seasons 5 and 6 appear to be from the original syndication package b/c they even included the Viacom "V of Doom" logo after the MTM logos.

Me-TV should just drop the show since they are not airing the last season of a 6 season show. Then again since it's only airs once a night I guess it's not that big of a deal. Hallmark aired the show 4 times a night

Just watch the eye blinks, body language, and gestures - on Bob Newhart in particular. Everything is noticeably sped up. A way to get more commercials in - possibly also to match modern attention spans... :|
