TV Line revealed their renewal/cancellation scorecard for the new year and on it that I found interesting was 'Community' being a safe bet for renewal. I have to say I am pretty surprised by that considering they put the thing on hiatus.

Makes no difference. Parks and Rec was put on hiatus last season too. It's less than one more full season away from 88 episodes, and that's what counts. I'm not worried. It's not like NBC is suddenly going to emerge as the #1 network between now and Fall 2012!

Why put the show on hiatus then?

That makes sense, but if you believe in a show enough to renew it, then putting it on hiatus is just plain stupid.

I think it'll be renewed. It was only put on hiatus because NBC jumped the gun and gave Whitney a full season before it started tanking, so they didn't have a spot for it. But that show is going to collapse quickly now that its out from under The Office's wing, and NBC will be able to bring Community back.

Plus, it's very very close to syndication. (I've heard rumors that Comedy Central is already in talks to pick it up).
