Yes it was stated that Spain was Mama's and Gomez's ancestrial land.
I think Morticia was of French decent.

Charles Addams, when asked to name the characters for the TV series, had two names and ethnicities in mind for the father. He did considered him to have Spanish ancestry and had the name Gomez on ready. His other choice was Italian and had created the name "Repelli", suggesting repellent. But he wanted to have a normal sounding name in there somewhere and chose Gomez.

Generally today, hispanic refers to South and Central America natives and not Spain. Natives of Spain are Caucasian.

The term `Hispanic`refers to any country where Spanish is the main spoken language. And that would certainly include Spain!

There was one episode where Gomez ( John Astin ) and Grandmama ( Blossom Rock ) had relatives visiting from Spain .
