Every episode I have seen so far it is "Out of Order," is there a story or something behind that?

I'm surprised Sheldon hasn't insisted on the elevator being fixed. We all know how Sheldon likes things to work correctly.

maybe that's an idea for a future show.

One of the reasons I LOVE this forum is because you learn about little known details and facts about shows you
ADORE. There was no way I would have ever been lucky enough to stumble upon that particular episode...so I
really feel ecstatic that I got an explanation for the elevator here. And it was a very very funny clip, to boot! Thanks, guys!

If they fixed the elevator they wouldn't be able to have the conversational scenes as they trudged up and down the stairs!

It was cute for a while but its time to fix it. However, its a part of the show's staple.

Maybe they are saving the moment for it to be finally fixed until the final episode of the series.

They'll probably fix the elevator on the last episode. LOL.

LOL. True that.

I'd hate to live in a highrise apartment building whose only elevator is "out of order" for any reason, especially if I am disabled/paralyzed.

They'll probably fix the elevator on the last episode. LOL.

I feel like the last shot in the series will be Leonard, Sheldon & co. leaving with boxes to move, and as they exit the shot turning down the stairs, the elevator door opens, and a handyman yells, "it's fixed!"

I lived for awhile in a 7th story apartment with no lift. Not fun, but good exercise. Now I live on the 3rd (lowest) floor and have an elevator.

couldnt they show them having conversations on the elevator i know it will be shorter than walking up the stairs but still

The elevator works well as a gimmick- it's a running gag, so I don't know that anything needs to be done with it. (But I don't care either way if it's fixed or not- though obviously, a good landlord should have it fixed of course.) I honestly don't really think about it when watching the series anyway.
