What is it about him that makes the girls swoon? Was it his culture, money, power? What was different about him than say Frasier?

Just my opinion, but as far as I'm concerned, it wasn't any of those things, and it's funny and a little typical that that's what a lot of men might think it was. For most women, it's all about the inside, not the outside. What's on the outside is just the icing on the cake. Niles was sweet, cute, sexy, and most importantly, he's the epitome of what a real man should be. Seriously.
Niles was a decent human being, he wasn't afraid to show some vulnerability as well as strength, he was intelligent, and he knew how to take care of a woman, and take care of relationships and people in general. He was a genuinely nice person, and had his head on straight. He had substance, and he knew that that's important, and it was important to him too. He made you want to love him and take as good care of him as he would of you. He wasn't perfect and he made mistakes but they were honest mistakes, not stupid or ignorant mistakes, and they made you want him even more. Sure, he had his faults and he had some annoying habits, but when it came down to what is most important on the inside, he had it all, and was a little hottie to boot. Probably more so because he had those characteristics. As far as I and a lot of other women are concerned, he was pretty close to being the whole, perfect package.

Frasier wasn't like that. Frasier had a little of that, but was missing some of the most important characteristics having to do with dealing with people and relationships and how women and relationships should be treated. Frasier was first and foremost all about himself. Then when you add some of those other same faults and annoying habits, it made Frasier decidely less attractive than Niles. Frasier was physically attractive and a nice enough person, and in the grand scheme of things, just fine as far as most women would consider, but Niles had some things you just don't find in many men that made him pretty much irresistible. Just my opinion.

Well, for me, it was always about the fact that he loved Daphne completely, even when she wasn't aware of it. I mean, what girl wouldn't want that?! *Sigh* The culture and money are nice, but they're just gravy, IMO!

I agree, of course. *sigh* Niles was definitely a man every girl dreams about. At least when it comes to Daphne. Maris...That relationship was doomed from the start!

I was just going to say that I just love him because I find him completely adorable, but I think you've said it much better than I could have! LOL ;)

I was watching the episode Secret Admirer the other day; it is a good example of why Niles and not Frasier.
