View Full Version : Any Christmas episodes?
MichaelKeith 12-29-2011, 10:34 AM I just now purchased season 1 of TPDS and have only had a chance to watch four episodes. Am wondering if they did any Christmas shows during seasons 1, 2, or 3. It would have been good to have at least one since it's a family show. I know that other sitcoms at the time like Green Acres and Bewitched did Christmas shows.
1960'sTVfan 12-30-2011, 01:04 AM Season 1 has a Christmas episode, and they followed it up with the next weeks episode, continuing the story and I think that episode ends with Patty and Cathy wishing each other a Happy New Year.
MichaelKeith 12-30-2011, 10:54 AM Thanks for the info, retrotvfan. I'm glad to hear they did an Xmas show since I was shocked to learn that Leave It To Beaver never did one and I own the entire series from Shout Factory and have watched it all.
1960'sTVfan 12-30-2011, 11:15 PM There is one Leave It To Beaver episode that contains a reference to Christmas, it is the 1st season episode The Haircut, where at the end of the episode Beaver and his classmates are seen singing Hark The Herald Angels Sing.

Is this the episode where Beaver has on a wintery looking sock cap while singing with the other children?

Yes it is, although the main reason he wore the cap was to conceal the awful haircut given to him by his brother.

The two-part Christmas/New Years episode is one of my favorites from the entire series. A lovely, heart-warming script and wonderful acting from everyone, especially Patty Duke. A true Christmas classic.
bliss 12-07-2013, 12:30 AM Pity that the X-mas episode is never shown in syndication. It always seems to skip over to the new years episode. Thank God for our Patty Duke Show DVD sets folks.

I love that 2 part episodes too where Cathy is confident her globe-trotting father would visit her. I wished that the "Kenneth Lane" character appeared in more episodes visiting his daughter. He seemed to have disappeared after season 1.
Season 3 could've had an opening scene of Cathy and her father in Paris buying a dress for Patty but oh no that would mean less screen time for the Patty Lane character

It did air on Nick At Nite. That is how I remember the episode. It may have been from the year 1989 though. I was a mere child then.

Ahh yes! Good old N&N did play the x-mas episode but I don't know if they only played it during Christmas eve or day only.
Nowadays it seemed to be skipped when it's not a holiday season.
Cathy_Lane 12-28-2013, 02:36 PM If I recall correctly, Nick at Nite often would skip both episodes except at Christmastime for their Christmas episode marathons.
