Is it because the side characters aren't that good and well developed?

Is it because Seth MacFarlane is being stretched too thin with so many shows?

I want to like The Cleveland Show, but often times just skip it...

I like "The Cleveland Show" (And no, I'm NOT a Fan Boy of the show).

But "The Cleveland Show" doesn't have much cutway gags and random characters like "Family Guy"

So you can say it's slightly dumbed-down.

In my personal opinion, it just seems it tries too hard to be funny, while American Dad and Family Guy it seems to flow naturally.

I never really got into the Cleaveland Show

i like it, ithas a different feel to it than Family Guy, but i still enjoy it
