View Full Version : The Trisha years (Seasons 6-8)
bliss 12-28-2011, 03:21 AM Would fans support the last 3 seasons on DVD when Donna got the helmet hair and Trisha was the new daughter in the household.
Personally I'm happy with the first five released on DVD that's the Mary years.
Kind of amusing that the little girl character looked like a female Jeff Stone. The writers/producers couldn't make her a visiting relative who decides to live with the Stone family. She was after all Paul's real life baby sis.
old grouch 12-28-2011, 10:18 AM I would buy them. I'd love to see the entire series on DVD.

I liked them too. Even if I didn't, I would want them to complete the set. If I collect a show, I want the whole thing.
Jude The Obscure 03-27-2012, 03:14 PM I definitely want all of them! and I will keep up my Facebook campaign to keep the fan support alive be it Sony, MPI or Shout! that releases s6-8 ;)

I absolutely loved your Facebook support in getting at least seasons 4 and 5 released on DVD even having the surviving cast and Donna's real life daughter involved. Speaking of Season 5 I hope we get it very soon.
Jude The Obscure 05-03-2012, 08:27 PM Season 5 is this year for sure--MPI is just making sure the process is done correctly like it did for season 4. As soon as season 5 news is announced by Mary Owen, I'll post it here as well.
BTW, Bliss, are you on my Facebook fan page?
Kasey 05-06-2012, 10:36 AM I really hope MPI can work something out with Sony for S6-8, even if they haven't done business together before. It's better than letting these shows rot in the vaults.
Jude The Obscure 05-06-2012, 04:58 PM I think Sony realizes some value is better than no value--they are not even syndicating s6-8 as their own package. At least I hope they realize it.

Thanks Jude for keeping us Donna Reed fans updated on the status of season 5 DVD set. To answer your question no...I don't have a Facebook account but I have read messages supporting the show and I am cheering from the sidelines
Jude The Obscure 06-01-2012, 11:15 PM You're welcome, Bliss :)
bliss 12-25-2012, 12:08 AM I'll be sticking to my 5 seasons of the show finally all on DVD. I'm done. I just hope the first 3 can get re-released & remastered beautifully like the great job MPI has done.
Jude The Obscure 12-30-2012, 11:00 PM Well, i'm sorry to hear that as we need all the support we can get in persuading Sony... Mary Owen has confirmed that MPI has indeed obtained the rights to seasons 1-3, but she does not know if they plan to reissue them on their own or as part of a box set. I hope that either scenario brings REMASTERING, BECAUSE THOSE SEASONS DID NOT GET THE LOVING CARE THAT SEASONS 4 AND 5 DID.

If MPI remasters the first three seasons for a box set, I would definitely double-dip on those. Isn't there some sort of residuals issue with Seasons 6 & 7 because of the Bob Crane estate? Isn't that the reason those seasons weren't shown on Nick@Nite?
If there isn't, I really hope Sony will let them go or at least release them themselves through their MOD program. There are some music issues though, for example, the Lesley Gore episode.
MickeyMac 01-03-2013, 08:01 PM I seem to recall seeing season 6-8 on Nick at Nite back in the day.

MPI managed to clear the hurdles for season 4 and 5 regarding the music.
stevea 05-15-2013, 09:10 AM Bad news for 6-8--just noticed the MeTV is showing only S1-S5. They recycle to S1 in a few weeks. I think S7 is one of the so-called lost seasons, too (like S4 was).

s6-8 was never ever part of the Me-TV deal since Sony owns those seasons.
bliss 11-04-2013, 11:15 PM I may have a change of heart and buy season 6 DVD if available. I detest Trisha but the late Bob Crane and the actress who played Midge become regulars.
Plus Shelley (Mary) returns for a few episodes!!!!

Are all the season 2 episodes unedited on MeTV? I know that some were on the DVD set.

They may pick these seasons up from Sony, since they are adding other 'missing' seasons, such as Bob Newhart. (Yeah, I doubt it, too...but we can hope!)

Since Sony has not converted seasons 6-8 to digital format from the 35 mm masters, they cannot issue these seasons in syndication.

all the season 2 episodes are sourced from the DVD set issued by Virgil Films (and now controlled by MPI).

I would really hope that Sony does not remaster these (we know they converted at least 2 season 8 episodes for a General Mills DVD about 10 years ago, and they were dismal), since they would just pull the syndication or daytime prints and use those.

Thanks. Interesting to know. Too bad that's the only available option out there at the moment for MeTV.
It's been a few years since I've watched my season 2 set but I did remember an episode I liked about the Jeff's teacher played by the 2nd Mrs. Wilson. I believe that was syndicated print.
