I recently found this one on the UM wiki. It sounds fascinating, sad, and downright a mystery as to why this segment is not in the guide. Did it really air or was it an error? If it did, why so seldom?

The black widow bite is astonishing enough, but for her to disappear after helping the man to the hospital...it could have been a random abduction, but the harassing phone call prior to her disappearance tells me it's more than that. Websleuths also has a thread on it, noting how she was taking self-defense lessons in response to the calls from a man who said he followed her every move. Though there is no picture, she was reputed to be very beautiful, perhaps alluding to a sexual motive.

It doesn't sound familiar. If it had been featured on show, it might have been shown as part of a "special alert" segment. Otherwise, either someone added it to UM Wiki because they assumed it was presented on the show and didn't bother to do a fact check to confirm (or disprove) that assumption, or they erroneously considered UM Wiki a source for unsolved mysteries in general instead of the UM series per se.

In general, UM Wiki includes cases that were never presented on the show. And since Wikipedia is known for listing its share of misinformation, it would be unwise to consider UM Wiki a reliable source for information related to UM.

Bummer. I was hoping I had just missed the segment or something along those lines. This would have been a really great case to put on UM. Now that you mention it, there have been a bunch of cases on there that probably never were on UM at all from what I've gathered.

I put the case on UM wiki because there was an old article (i think the link is dead now) that said that Dorothy's case was on Unsolved Mysteries but nobody had remembered it. I only put cases on the wiki that have some proof of existence (a factual newspaper article for example) on the show. The information on the site is relatively accurate, as it comes from the actual videos on the forbidden site and other sites.
