JACK TRIPPER 1952-
The early 50's were tough times for families in San Diego.Though they longed for the lives of The Nelsons and Andersons they all knew reality.It was the city where Frank and Alice Tripper gave birth to their two sons Lee in 1949 and Jack Tripper in 1952.Jack was an usual American boy, playing football with the guys and romancing the neighborhood starlets.Jack and his father once entered a a talent show singing the tune "Susannah's A Funny Old Man."
It wasn't until 1977 when Jack's life turned into a dream world.He was crashing a party with a group of friends.The next morning the residents of the Santa Monica apartment,Janet Wood and Christmas Snow found Tripper asleep in their bathtub.They really wanted Jack to stay but couldn't convince the landlord,Stanley Roper that everything would be platonic.Wood came up with the idea of telling Roper that Jack was gay.Roomates and landlords came and went.In 1982 Tripper got his own restaurant titled Jack's Bistro.He went through several ideas like Le Grande Cruisine,Voulez Vou!,Babette's and Froggy's but the simple Jack Tripper used the simple name.In 1984 love caught Tripper's eyes when he met stewardess Vicki Bradford.Through many changes the two wed and Tripper moved out of the Santa Monica apartment.Today Tripper is still married.He sometimes uses the last name Hooperman because his restaurant his known to so many.
