Howdy!
I am an American living in China. I get to watch new epsiodes of my favorite shows from a website (not a Chinese one). This one website I use has been wonderful in having series on it, usually as soon as the show is over.
One thing that really annoys me is not being able to watch series from HULU, the networks or other websites because I and my computer are outside the United States. I get the message 'Content is not available in your country.'   This is the same with radio. When I first came here, I was able to listen to my hometown's rock station, then a few years ago, I get this s**t "Content is not available in your country".
Why is that? It has something to do with copyrights or something of that nature. It annoys me that I cannot utilize these websites, that show their content legally, and have to resort to using websites that do not have the right to show the program. Makes a lot of sense. Most of the products these advertisers sell are available all over the World. I guess it could be possible to copy the shows and sell bootleg DVD's (and I have a lot of those here).
Like I said, it's really annoying. I want to watch a Parks and Recreation webisode but was turned away. Oh well. I just dont understand the rationale behind blocking these shows from the rest of humanity outside the borders of the USA. I guess this would apply to Canada also.
