View Full Version : Ratings wise, how has "Live" done rezny717 12-09-2011, 03:58 PM Since RegisPhilbin left and Kelly Ripa and whoever took overr? JamesG 12-09-2011, 08:38 PM I don't have the exact numbers handy but I read that the "Live! with Kelly" ratings were almost the same compared to when Regis was on. There was nothing drastically different. JamesG 12-21-2011, 04:21 PM A new news piece says that the "Live! with Kelly" ratings have been doing down since Regis left. The ratings were higher when Regis first departed but the viewers have not been sticking around in the subsequent weeks. In the three weeks measured by Nielsen since Philbin’s Nov. 18 swan song, “Live” has seen its audience erode by 35 percent in total viewers. That takes into account the week following Philbin’s departure, when “Live” aired only three new shows with guest co-host Jerry Seinfeld joining host Kelly Ripa. For that week (ending Nov. 25), “Live” averaged 4.5 million viewers — which dropped to 3.8 million viewers for the week of Dec. 2, and then fell to 3.6 million viewers for the week of Dec. 9, according to Nielsen. In Philbin’s last week on “Live,” the show averaged nearly 6 million viewers — up from the 3.4 million viewers it averaged in October. http://www.nypost.com/p/entertainment/tv/live_ratings_down_post_reege_tTKYQjazNwtwjPNxPuBvPM Pavan 12-21-2011, 09:04 PM Week of Dec. 9 did 3.6 million. That is higher than October when it averaged 3.4 million for the month. It is on par and normal. Why compare the final week of Regis and say it has eroded 35% since, NYPost? USATVFAN 12-21-2011, 10:54 PM Here is Live! With Kelly Ratings from the last 6 Weeks: Week of: October 31 3.806.000 November 7- 4.021.000 Week before Regis last week November 14- 5.575.000 Regis Final week and 7.3 on Regis last day November 21- 4.5 Million First week without Regis November 28- 3.8 Million December 5- 3.6 Million Before Regis left they were averaging around 3.4-3.6 Million Viewers. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/12/21/live-with-kelly-ratings-down-without-regis-philbin_n_1162405.html http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/?s=Regis+and+Kelly UPDATE: According to ABC, The New York Post's statistics are inaccurate. According to a report from ABC, "Live! With Kelly" ratings were 7 percent higher in terms of total viewers than the show's average ratings with Regis. The report also says the show's ratings have been higher than the equivalent weeks from last year by 12 percent total viewers. Regis Philbin's last show as co-host of "Live!" was watched by a record number of viewers, with over nine million tuning in for his swansong. However, although the first post-Philbin show attracted good ratings, recent figures show that they have since plummeted. http://perezhilton.com/2011-12-01-live-with-kelly-improves-versus-last-year-in-first-weeks-metered-market Live! With Kelly Is Doing Alright Sans Regis Filed under: TV News > Kelly Ripa That's not to say that everyone doesn't miss him, but it looks like Kelly Ripa can hold her own without the legendary host. In her first week on air without Regis Philbin, Kelly managed to up the ratings of the show compared to this same time last year, The 1st week of LIVE! with Kelly delivered a 3.4 HH rating and a 1.8 W25-54 rating, in an average of the metered markets. Not too shabby - but will she be able to manage the same fete once she has a new, permanent host. We guess it depends on who it is! According to The New York Post, the audience for "Live! With Kelly" has dropped by 35 percent since Philbin's departure on November 18. No full-time replacement for Philbin has yet been appointed, but names linked with the job so far have included Ryan Seacrest, Andy Cohen and Kelly Ripa's husband Mark Consuelos. Until a successor is named, Ripa -- who recently signed a new five-year deal to stay with the show -- is fronting the show with a succession of guest hosts. ABC announced Monday that the week of January 9 to 13 will feature a guest host roster made up entirely of sports stars, including Reggie Bush, Carl Edwards and Apolo Anton Ohno. Jerry Seinfeld stepped up to the plate as first guest host the Monday after Philbin's exit and averaged a respectable 4.5 million viewers, However, the Post reports that figure as steadily dropping week-to-week, first to 3.8 million and then to 3.6 million. Philbin announced back in January that he was quitting "Live!" after 28 years, and since then he has hinted that his contract with the show was the reason for his departure. He told Detroit's "Mojo in the Morning" radio show that "The contractual issue just never worked out, but I was going to leave before that anyway." USATVFAN 12-21-2011, 11:15 PM On a separate Note, The Third Hour of Today Show(Regis and Kelly Competitors in many Markets and known as Today II)Ratings has gone up since Savannah Guthrie joined back in June, It had been beating Regis and Kelly in the ratings almost regularly up until the week of November 7, But Today II Still had one of the best November sweeps ever(Or maybe the best one it ever had! Today II averaged 3.6 Million Viewers a week last month, Today Show Third hour also had some of their Best Single-day Viewership in October and November since March and April almost topping the 4 Million Viewers Mark on a few days in October and November. So the Third Hour has been doing pretty well over the last year posting their best and biggest viewership weekly and daily in years and had it's biggest November sweeps ever as well as beating Regis and Kelly on a weekly basic for the first time ever. adding Savannah was smart thing I think and I think she is doing a Great job and fit well with Al and Natalie. I actually look forward to watching the Third Hour Now everyday! I mean its not the same w/o Regis. Kelly can hold her own but its different. Maybe, having different co hosts was to bring in ratings but its no different than when Regis took a day off here and there. Its really not a big deal who co hosts but it will be when we find out who replaces Regis. USATVFAN 01-06-2012, 07:03 PM Last Week Today Show Third Hour Ratings(9am) beat Live With Kelly. in the ratings. Live With Kelly had 4 ?Million Viewers last week while Today Show !!(9am) had 4.6 Million Viewers. http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2012/01/05/syndicated-tv-ratings-judge-judy-ahead-of-wheel-of-fortune-live-with-kelly-tops-talk-shows/115500/ http://www.nbcumv.com/mediavillage/networks/nbcnews/pressreleases?pr=contents/press-releases/2012/01/06/todayrtgswin1325885883967.xml JamesG 02-01-2012, 09:38 PM "Live! with Kelly" Ratings Drop 10 Percent 2/1/2012 by Alex Ben Block Since Regis Philbin left Disney’s syndicated hit talk show Live last November, his co-host Kelly Ripa has been rolling along with ratings up an average of 4 percent compared to a year earlier when they were still together – until last week. For the week ending Jan. 22, ratings for "Live! with Kelly" dropped 10 percent from the comparable week a year earlier. The show had a 2.7 household rating (3.66 million viewers per day) compared to a 3.0 rating ((3.95 million viewers) the same week a year earlier. So what happened? Was it a weak line-up of co-host for the week, which included Seth Meyers, Mario Lopez and Dana Carvey? No, say sources at Disney. The same week one year ago, right after the Martin Luther King holiday, was when Regis suddenly announced (on Jan. 18, 2011) that he was leaving the show. That exploded across the media landscape and the show’s ratings for the week jumped. For the 2011-2012 season to date, both with and without Regis, ratings for the show are up a healthy eight percent compared to the same period in the prior year. Still, as the search for Regis’s replacement goes on and on, there is reason to wonder how long Kelly can carry the show herself. For now Disney is committed to taking its time and making sure they find the right replacement host, who can attract viewers and enjoy great personal chemistry with Kelly on a daily basis. As Regis would probably say, it turns out Regis isn’t so easy to replace. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/live-ratings-kelly-ripa-regis-philbin-286508 |
