What are your feelings on Meathead?

Sort of. I didn't care for his smug, "I'm-so-much-better-than-you-cause I'm-an-open-minded-liberal" stance. When push comes to shove, it's hard to find someone more close-minded than the Meathead. He characterizes what I often find with "liberals" - they're liberal as long as you agree with them.

But I guess beneath it all, he was a decent guy. Most of his posturing was really due to the fact that he was insecure but trying to hide it.

But the REALLY hands-down likeable characters on the show for me were Edith (of course!!), Irene Lorenzo and George and Louise. Yes George. Even though he likes to come across as an arrogant little pr*ck - at the end of the day, his heart is a big as Weezie's!

Watching these reruns as a kid, Mike's interactions with Archie taught me more about tolerance than any civil rights leader lol.

Mike's "tolerant, open-minded" views really only applied to people who shared his beliefs. If he were really tolerant and open-minded, he would've just let the windbag blow (Archie), instead of allowing Archie to push his buttons, allowing his opinions to get under his skin and tempting him into arguments. If this is truly a free country of open expression and the right to individual opinion, then there's a place for everyone, even people like Archie, as ignorant and bigoted as he is. Mike tried relentlessly to "correct" him, thus making Mike the opposite end of the spectrum of the same problem as Archie.

To me, no. Gloria could've done a lot better than Meathead.
