I am one of those individuals who loves when the radio stations start playing the 24/7 Christmas songs. I just wish they would expand their playlist and stop playing every freakin' version of Winter Wonderland, Let it Snow, and Silver Bells!!

The songs I do like though:

1)Sleigh Ride - Leroy Anderson Orchestra, this is the BEST version. The middle part where the trumpets and trombones play really rocks!!
2)Step Into Christmas - Elton John
3)Celebrate Me Home - Kenny Loggins
4)Twelve Days of Christmas - John Denver and the Muppets
5)Christmas Eve 12/24 Sarajevo - Trans-Siberian Orchestra
6)Wizards in Winter - TSO
7)Silent Night - Mannheim Steamroller, this version is so haunting.
8)Wonderful Christmastime - Paul McCartney
9)Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas - Judy Garland
10)Jingle Bells - both the Barbra Streisand version AND the Osmonds version
11)Something About Christmastime - Bryan Adams
12)The Christmas Waltz - The Carpenters
13)Because it's Christmas - Barry Manilow
14)Christmas Time Again - Extreme
15)Thank God it's Christmas - Queen

and I'm sure I'm forgetting a few.....

Holiday Songs That Belong on Santa's Naughty List
Posted on Dec 1st 2011
by Sarah Chazan

'Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer'

HuTHxMjVivg

Has anyone ever taken a close listen to the lyrics of this age-old song? They're TERRIBLE!

Who thinks singing about a grandmother being violently killed by wildlife is any way to get into the holiday spirit?!

In fact, we're surprised grannies across the globe haven't attempted to get this horrid tune banned from the radio waves.

'Dogs Barking Jingle Bells'

xam01uaj6Vg

If you've ever lived next door to a dog who never.stopped.barking, then you know just how annoying it is.

With that being said, why would anyone think that irritating sound who make for a great holiday tune? 30 seconds into this Christmas catastrophe and we begin begging for a muzzle.

'Dominick the Donkey'

Ok5rOO2v2dU

If Italian-Americans are offended by "Jersey Shore", this song should really put them through the roof. Besides being borderline racist in its stereotyping, the song is just annoying.

And if you're a fan of the New York Mets, then you know that they inexplicably play this grating tune during their home games. Talk about extending a holiday horror all year round!

'Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don't Be Late)'

StC8MhcgALc

This song reeks of "somebody needed a paycheck."

How else can you explain the hastily thrown together melody, the flat lyrics and, oh yeah, the fact they tried to save the whole thing by having Alvin and the Chipmunks sing it.

New Kids on the Block's 'Funky Funky Christmas'

vQ-6N8U_or4

You may have loved this song back when you were 11, but take a listen now.

Donnie Wahlberg impersonating Santa Claus, Jordan Knight rapping, Joey McIntyre putting on a faux British accent ... it's just a world on wrong. In fact, in may make your Christmas funky -- in a BAD way!

'All I Want for Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth'

vLKMRhJGJeE

We believe this tune was created for no other reason than to give grandfathers something annoying to sing at their grandchildren when they lose their two front teeth.

OK, that may be a personal over-share on our part, but still, the song is lame. We dare you to try getting through the entire video above -- it's physically impossible!

'The Dreidel Song'

gmvs0ShU6Hg

You don't get off that easy, Jewish friends.

Sadly, Chanukah has a song just as horrid as its Christmas counterparts. There's, like, one lyric in this entire tune, repeated over ... and over ... and over again.

It's enough to take the joy out of playing the Dreidel game!

'I'm Gettin' Nuttin' for Christmas'

vK06SgtXin0

This song could land on the list just for having the word 'nuttin' in its title, but the tune's horrible subject matter makes it twice as bad.

With lyrics like "I put a tack on teacher's chair/Somebody snitched on me./I tied a knot in Susie's hair/Somebody snitched on me," all you're getting is a reminder of the bratty cousins you'll have to deal with at this year's family holiday gathering!

To be honest, I've never been a fan of generic Christmas music. Sometimes you can catch a local choir singing here outside and I will attend b/c it's live and b/c the people are standing in the cold, and have lovely harmony.
But as far as the played out stuff on the radio, bleh. If you search or get lucky you can come across some new or different genres that may have the word Christmas in it a time or 2 but isn't so concerned with being "traditional", if that makes sense.

if i come across any examples i will post a link.

No, it absolutely does make sense. I tend to agree with you, which is why I prefer some of the more traditional Christmas songs (see earlier post in thread). I agree, a lot of the stuff I hear on the radio, except (for me), probably Nat King Cole or Johnny Mathis once in a while--well, let's put it this way: As soon as Dec. 26th rolls around, then I get to listen to 'regular' music again. Eartha Kitt's 'Santa Baby' is fine, except like, how much of it can a person take?!

Christmas at Ground Zero - "Wierd Al" Yankovic (I wish he'd do an entire Christmas Album. ). :D   :rotflmao: :brent

Mr Santa - Amy Grant. A Parody of "Mr Sandman".

Not-So-Silent Night - Bob Rivers

Here's some Ideas for "Wierd Al"

Fad Toy A Parody of Gloria Estefan's Bad Boy. This song is about those "Hot" Toys that are invariably in Short Supply at Christmastime each year.

Finding A Place To Park Another Gloria Estefan Parody, Coming Out Of The Dark. A Song about Traffic at Malls and Big-Box Stores.

Black Friday A Parody of Ram Jam's Black Betty

Do They Know We're Not Poor Anymore? - A Parody of Band-Aid's Do They Know It's Christmastime At All? A Song about a Village in Africa that gets TONs of Money from Royalties from a Certain Christmas Song. (A True Story, BTW) - Proceed from this song would still go to Charity, Possibly to another Village in a Third-World Country.

We're Shopping On Black Friday A Parody of Napoleon XIV's They're Coming To Take Me Away

My favorite is "One Last Christmas" by Matthew West. It's about a one year old boy who loved Christmas but was diagnosed with cancer and wasn't going to make it, so his father decorated the house, and put up lights in September when it was still 70 degrees, the neighborhood followed suit, and soon the whole town was lit up, and so the boy got one Last Christmas. It's a true story, and you can watch the video and hear the song on YouTube. Matthew West also directed a movie telling this amazing little boys story.
