I was wondering how many Looney Tunes shorts were produced from 1930-1969?

If we combine Merrie Melodies and Looney Tunes, there were 1,005 theatrical cartoons from 1930's "Sinkin' In The Bathtub" through 1969's "Injun Trouble" released by Warner Bros. Hope that helps.

1000+ shorts?

Is that the most a film studio has ever done?

I wouldn't be surprised, since most Hollywood studios never managed to float a film series for 40 years. Of course, after the late 50s the schedule really tapered off.

Now, whether you wanted to watch every last one of them is another question altogether. :)

I wouldn't doubt it either, since MM/LT was one of the competitors of Disney in the 50's...though I feel that they're part of "The Big Three Of Cartoons"...next to M-G-M Cartoons since "Tom and Jerry" won many Oscars in the 40's.

Tom and Jerry, Donald Duck, and Bugs Bunny were in 160+ Cartoons. They starred in more cartoons than Mickey Mouse ever starred...all four were jerks (Bugs, Donald, Tom, and Jerry) but they're lovable jerks!

According to Cartoon Resource (http://cartoonresource.tripod.com/looneytunes.html), 1001 Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies movies were released to theaters between 1930 and 1969. The very first animated cartoon movie for Warner Bros. was produced in 1929 and it was titled "Bosko the Talk-Ink Kid" (it was not released to theaters).

Okay, two of my "hitch-hikers" were a couple of Roadrunner cartoons that were made out of a longer unreleased one and (I think) went straight to TV. And yes, the other one was Talk-Ink Kid. Grr, Wikipedia.

I like your number better. 1,001 has a more magical sound. And it's still a lot of cartoons.

The title of the compilation movie "Bugs Bunny's 3rd Movie: 1001 Rabbit Tales" evokes the number of Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies movies released between 1930 and 1969.
