Frosty81 11-30-2011, 03:44 AM I wonder how many of you have any pinball machines based on TV shows, such as:
Happy Days (1974-84 TV series) (Coleco, 1976) (not full-sized per se)
Charlie's Angels (D. Gottlieb & Co., 1978)
Hart to Hart (D. Gottlieb & Co., 1981)

Mace Dolex 09-08-2014, 01:10 AM I never understood the popularity of pinball machines, weren't they all basically the same gameplay just with a change in the cabinets artwork?
jimpickens 09-08-2014, 01:48 AM I'm surprised that they still make pinball machines though they got phased out by video games and video poker and slots for bars.

Yong Fang 08-24-2015, 01:58 AM I love pinball machines since I was a child and now have a Pinball simulator game on my IPad called "Pinball Arcade".
To answer your question, all pinball machines are different, the layouts are different which a reason they are such great works of art. To me, some games are very fun and exciting while other games are dull and boring. To answer, there is a BORING game called "Ripley's Believe it or Not", based on a newspaper column but pretty sure was a TV show or specials at one time or another.
Star Trek has at least three pinball games, a kickass 1970s game, a Next Generation game (which I find dull and rarely play), and a newer game based on the new Star Trek Chris Pine/Zachary Quinto films, which I have not played. There is also a sort of "Happy Days" machine which theme is billiards, and has a drawing of someone who looks a lot like Henry Winkler. I have a picture of the game on my other IPad and will show it later. There is also a 1970's Roy Clark "cocktail" table top machine out there (you can find it on YouTube), probably made because of Clark's popularity on Hee Haw. Movies, TV shows and entertainment are very common themes for pinball machines.
Mostly men like pinball machines. Some female fans, but mostly male. Fortunately, pinball is making a comeback, although I think the new games look to be junk, I prefer the older games from the 1980s and before. The two companies who made the best machines were Williams and Bally's, neither make pinballs anymore in favor of slot machines and gaming devices. Stern games are garbage. Cheaply made, made to just make some money and then toss. Same with another crap company called DATA EAST which made The Simpsons, which for a DATA EAST game was pretty good. One I really liked was a MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL game with the announcers voices (with Frank Gifford) and a goal post to "kick" the pinball over.
If you do like pinball, look up "Pinball Arcade" on Facebook, I play everyday. I am good too, and would like to do tournaments, but I do not live in the USA.

This Monday Night Football game (or a simulation thereof) was the basis for the opening of Monday Night Football broadcasts in the 1988 season.
