Did they ever feature the character Gina?I know that Dennis, his parents Henry and Alice ,Mr and Mrs.Wilson,Dennis' friends Tommy and Joey and of course,Margaret, were featured in BOTH the comics and the 1959-1963 TV series.but back to the original question:Was the Gina character (who was a friend of Dennis'in the comics)ever featured on the series?

As far as I know, the character of Gina doesn't appear in the TV show. Another character from the Dennis comics that is not in the TV show is Dennis pet dog, the white furry mongrel named Ruff. In the TV show, Mr. Wilson is the one who owns a dog, named Fremont.

I don't think the character of Gina was introduced to the comicstrip until long after the tv series.

You may be right about that, I don't know for sure when Gina first appeared in the Dennis comics, but it's possible the character was created after the TV show was over.

I don't remember Tommy in the comic strip. It seems to me Joey was his main side-kick there. But on the tv show Joey is just featured in the beginning of the first season.

Tommy was in the comic strip but was eventually dropped. Not sure what year. I'm guessing at the time the comics didn't feature Joey that much with Tommy being the main friend of Dennis (like the TV show did). However sometime after the show ended the writers of the comics decided to make Joey Dennis' best friend and wrote Tommy out.

Gina didn't appear in a "DTM" comic until sometime in the 1968-1970 period; I'm not sure if it was a bow to relevance or if it was just something to rev up a (then) 20-year-old comic strip.

Actually, Hank Ketchum also had another Sunday strip going in this same time period; "Half Hitch" was the story of a new Naval recruit getting used to life as a sailor. (Anyone remember seeing it besides me?)

Having never read the comics, was Gina basically the same as Margaret?
I always thought it was odd how Joey disappeared from the series so quickly. The addition of Seymour a few years down the pike was hilarious.
