I dont know about you but Im sick of Soapnet. They run the same damn promos for the same shows for months at a time. How many times have I seen Spinelli with his nicknames for the GH characters? Over/under 500!! What about Brothers and Sisters promos? Thats all I see. Im just so sick of that damn channel even though they have shows I like. Now I do remember I actually did a thread about what I would put on if I started a soap opera channel. This is just going to be what I would do to overhaul Soapnet.
There pretty simple enough.

1) As much as this pains me to do because I like the shows, I have to bench 90210, One Tree Hill and The OC. All three, while great shows, have run into the ground by Soapnet. There always on and they are overexposed. What I would do, bench the 3 soaps from now until maybe March or April. Freshen them up a bit. Then when they come back, scale back on showing them. None of this marathon stuff you see now.

2) You want to get into peoples good graces show AMC and OLTL on Soapnet. After there both cancelled put first run episodes on Soapnet. I would seem like a perfect fit. They are, after all, SOAPS!!

3) Enough of this cross promoting crap. It just so happens Brothers and Sisters is on Soapnet when the show airs on ABC. If Soapnet is so into the "hip generation", what about bringing back Melrose Place, Party of Five or Dawson's Creek?

4) Scrap "Breakfast in Bed". I live on the east coast and by the time Breakfast in Bed ends, its 3pm in the afternoon. Who stays in bed until then? Thats why I'd scrap that and the shows I mentioned above.

5) This would be more like a rule than anything else. On weekends, show classic soaps. Now Soapnet thinks "classic" means everything from 2004 forward. Im talking about dipping into the archives. Classic OLTL, Y&R, AMC etc.

6)NO MORE SHOWING OF MOVIES!!  Do you remember S&M movie night? They used to show movies on Sunday night, I believe. I dont need to see those movies. I have about 10 other movie channels to watch movies. Show the classic soaps or even show first run episodes of shows like Soapography, One Day with... etc.

What do you guys think? Soapnet is just annoying me lately. Ok, rant over.

Its a shame because that never should've happened as well. They cancel soap operas, soap opera channels, what's next? I had thought Soapnet was going to stay around a little longer but I guess not. Its a shame that a channel with so much promise just became like all the rest.
