View Full Version : Whatever Happened To Richie?
MasterEdward 11-26-2011, 02:10 AM OK so I was watching an episode of King Of Queens earlier tonight. It was the one where they go back to the first time Doug and Carrie met. And we find out that at the time Doug and Richie were actually roommates. Now if you remember they had Deacon, Spence, and Richie on the first season or two (if Richie was only on the first season someone can correct me). And then later the character of Richie was gone. Which I'm OK with I never liked Richie as much as Deacon or Spence anyways. I thought he was kind of an annoying jerk. But it got me to thinking what happened to the character of Richie? Did they write him out of the show? Or did he simply disappear and was never mentioned again like sitcoms seem to do with people all the time, and I hate that! I know Richie was never mentioned after the character was off the show. But I was wondering if they had a final episode where he moved away or something else happened and maybe I've missed it somehow. I'm also curious does anyone know if the actor who played him was fired or maybe they got rid of the character because he decided to quit the series? Does anyone know? Thanks for any information anyone can give me about it.
Ed.
MasterEdward 11-26-2011, 08:10 PM Well I researched it myself. At the beginning of the third season Larry Romano (Richie) quit the show to work on a different sitcom. Although he's never mentioned again after his last episode he can be seen in some clips in the montage in the finale episode.

LeeBlue 11-26-2011, 11:34 PM I watch King of Queens at times and also wondered whatever became of Richie.
This is an interesting bit of information -- thanx.
Bonniegirl 07-10-2014, 11:24 PM I liked Richie . He was cute! Typical NY Italian guy that is hot but not real bright! (No offense to Italian people)! I wish he had stayed in the show. I like Deacon and Spence but didn't like his cousin Danny so much.
cleverfun3000 07-11-2014, 08:44 AM I do believe that Danny is related to the star of the show, hence him being in the series without really ever having to make much of a contribution.

Yes, Kevin James and the actor who played Danny, Gary Valentine are brothers.
Mark Mallard 02-03-2016, 02:09 PM Ritchie is/was one of the best characters on The King of Queens. He's supposed to be the "airhead" of the group, yet his "street smarts," if you will, elevate him far beyond that label. Also, much of Ritchie's excellence in his brief time on the show comes out of his ability to provide the perfect foil for Spence, whose well-educated humor clashes brilliantly with Ritchie's common man humor. By himself, he's great, yet it seems like he was always meant to perfectly complement Doug's other friends to sort of round out their group. I wish he'd decided to stay on with the show!

Yeah, I wish they had kept him!!!

Well, if it wasn't for Gary Valentine, Kevin James wouldn't have gotten into comedy to begin with. Gary was the one that got Kevin into doing stand up. So besides getting to work with his brother, I'm sure this was one of Kevin's ways of paying his brother back.

Kevin and Gary actually look a lot alike. It's very easy to see that they are closely related. So it was smart to cast them as cousins.
Wawwie 11-30-2016, 04:37 PM whatever happened to Richie?.
Also, whatever happened to Carrie's half-sister who was never mentioned again after she only appeared in a few episodes in the first season?
And whatever happened to Carrie's neighbor friend Jessica that she couldn't get enough of in one episode?
Whatever happened to Deacon's neighbor friend who was "the black Doug"?
