During the 1980s and 1990s, she became one of the first gospel artists to cross over into mainstream pop on the heels of her successful albums Unguarded and Heart in Motion, the latter of which included the #1 single "Baby Baby" and "Every Heartbeat".

Grant has won 6 Grammy Awards, 25 Gospel Music Association Dove Awards, and had the first Christian album ever to go Platinum.

Heart in Motion is her highest selling album, with over 5,000,000 copies sold in the United States alone. She was honored with a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2005 for her contributions to the Entertainment Industry.

She's had 2 Top 10 Pop Albums Heart in Motion and Behind the Eyes

She has 3 Children from her 1st marriage and she has a daughter w/Vince

Here are her personal quotes:

[1985] I'll tell ya, singin' isn't any good unless you have something good to sing about.

What I find in life is that it's not so much about good and bad people, but about good and bad combinations.

I guess a part of being deceived, is that you wouldn't know it.

Just growing up some, and encountering experiences that proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that I do not understand God's plan.

You can still cut loose and have a great time, but part of you has to say, "I will take life with open eyes and a thinking mind, and not as self-centered as I was as a child". When you start looking at life that way you realize that issues on every level on every continent do have an effect on your life.

On marriage: The more time you invest in a marriage, the more valuable it becomes.

I was a Bush supporter, but I was bowled over with President Clinton's personal magnetism when I met him. I was so not expecting that. He has amazing charisma. His charisma can stop a room. And it's everything, it's male... He's just bigger than life. Very embracing, very warm.

The toughest thing, as a believer, is to see how Christianity is pigeonholed into this one did-you-get-the-memo-on-how-to-vote kind of thing. I am somebody who feels very spiritually alive, and prayer is an integral part of my daily life, along with confession, worship - all those things. But I see how all that's been quantified, and made a caricature of, and I don't want to add to a cultural experience that turns people off.

Amy also remains Good Friends w/Fellow Contemporary Christian Artist Michael W. Smith (who had a Top 10 Pop Hit w/"Place in this World") and she also performed the theme to the short-lived NBC Sitcom Sister Kate Starring British Comedienne Stephanie Beacham and Future 90210 Star Jason Priestley and was Produced by Lazy B. Productions and 20th Century Fox Television The Co-Producers of Mr. Belvedere Starring the late Christopher Hewitt, Ilene Graf and Bob Uecker

Happy Birthday Amy!!
She's always been a favorite of mine. I first began listening to her when i was in high school. Some of my Youth Group friends introduced me to her music, so I am especially fond of her old stuff and still have 2 of her vinyl albums from that era. My Father's Eyes, and Amy Grant.
I love the songs My Father's Eyes, What a Difference You've Made in My Life, Oh Sacred Head, The Lord Has a Will, etc.

Never was a fan, always thought her music was sappy and boring and what does her height have to do with anything?

I 1st got into her music when I was little and remember Sing Your Praise to the Lord on CBN (now abc family) and ACTS (now The Hallmark Channel)

Of course, I'm a fan of 90's Music, too

God Bless Her
