No, you heard right. In the first season, Judith told Alan she thought that she was gay but nothing ever became out of the whole thing. Personally, I think she just wanted to experiment, just to see what it was like to be with someone of the same gender, whether or not she actually did it or not was never revealed. All that I know was after about a season or two she gave up on the whole matter and soon after started seeing Alan again which didn't work out either.

Judith thought she was gay but it was never actually confirmed if she was or not. Though they never said it, I think she experimented a little bit to see if it stirred anything and when it didn't then she gave up on the whole thing and realized she was straight.
