Personal thought: His father died when he was 11, and he started looking for God then. However, IIRC his jail stint started in late 1980, when he was 27--I think I got that from his book Don't Stand Too Close To A Naked Man. I guess his search took a while.

This is good...I hope one day he can do a recovery class someplace, like in Detroit...has he forgotten the Detroit region or has he helped that area?
