Bruce Springsteen Announces New Album, Tour for 2012
11/21/2011
by Ray Waddell (Billboard)

Speculation about the future of Bruce Springsteen and his E Street Band in the wake of the death of beloved sax player Clarence Clemons has been addressed on brucespringsteen.net

"A lot of you have been hearing that Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will be on tour in 2012," Sunday night's post says.

"That is absolutely correct. The European dates run from the middle of May until end of July and are being announced this week. Info on the U.S. dates and the World tour dates will coming up shortly.

"

"In addition, we want you to know that the music is almost done (but still untitled), we have almost settled on the release date (but not quite yet), and that we are all incredibly excited about everything that we're planning for 2012.

That's all the info we have for right now, but we'll get back to you -- real soon."

The first dates to be announced are four in England: June 21, Stadium of Light in Sunderland; June 22, Etihad Stadium in Manchester; June 24, Isle of Wight Festival; July 14, Hard Rock Calling in London.

Clemons died at age 69 on June 18, one week after suffering a stroke at his home in Florida. He had reportedly undergone two brain surgeries while hospitalized but then took a turn for the worse.

A 40-year member of the E Street Band, Clemons appeared on Springsteen's debut album, 1973's Greetings from Asbury Park, and is seen on the cover of his breakthrough record Born to Run, released two years later.

Among the Springsteen songs to feature his scintillating saxophone solos are "Thunder Road," "Born to Run," "Jungleland," "Badlands" and "Dancing in the Dark."

Nicknamed "The Big Man," Clemons never missed an E Street Band gig, last performing with them in December 2010.

Ah my ex will happy to hear that. He is crazy for Bruce and will want to find out when the US tour dates are, when they become available. Though I have never been a fan of his vocals, I admit as far as songwriters go-he is up there with the best of them! :)

This is great news in that I'm a huge fan of Bruce's! However, before getting back with the E. Street Band I thought that he should do another accustic, stipped down album like Nebraska and Devils & Dust.

I agree that it's great news. I also think it's a great time to do another album and tour with the band. It's likely that the band is only going to want to do this for so long, so they should take advantage while everyone is on board. I think Bruce will have plenty of time to do more solo acoustic material later on.

That's awesome! I probably wouldn't go, but it's cool that he's going to be touring again. I only say I wouldn't go because I don't go to concerts much unless it's someone I absolutely love like Michael Buble or Harry Connick Jr.

I may see him if he's performing at The House of Blues, Nautica, or The State Theater...I may disagree about his politics (I think he supports the 99%), but his music overrides that!

Bruce Springsteen Announces New Album Title
1/19/2012
by Erin Carlson

Bruce Springstreen has announced his new album title: 'Wrecking Ball', an angry-sounding name fitting for what The Hollywood Reporter learned will be his "angriest" offering yet.

The record, scheduled to drop March 6 through Columbia Records, was produced by Springsteen and Ron Aniello with Jon Landau, the singer's manager, also on board as executive producer.

A special edition is planned with two bonus tracks.

For now, here's a list of the titles for 11 new songs on Springsteen's 24th album with the E Street Band:

01. We Take Care of Our Own
02. Easy Money
03. Shackled and Drawn
04. Jack of All Trades
05. Death to My Hometown
06. This Depression
07. Wrecking Ball
08. You’ve Got It
09. Rocky Ground
10. Land of Hope and Dreams
11. We Are Alive

Springsteen is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the music conference portion of South by Southwest on March 15 in Austin, coinciding with the album's release.

The boss and the E Street Band, which has lost two longtime members in recent years -- Danny Federici in 2008 and legendary saxophonist Clarence Clemons in 2011 -- have a round of U.K. concert dates set for June as part of a 2012 tour of Europe and the U.S.

Bruce Springsteen Debuts New Song 'We Take Care of Our Own'
1/19/2012
by Erin Carlson

Bruce Springsteen has released a brand-new song, 'We Take Care of Our Own', from his forthcoming record, 'Wrecking Ball', dropping March 6.

The song hints at political themes on the album, which an earwitness told THR is the boss' "angriest" yet and "gets into economic justice."

The album, recorded with the E Street Band and produced by Springsteen and Ron Aniello (Lifehouse, Jars of Clay), was mostly put together before the Occupy Wall Street protests that began last fall.

"Bruce has dug down as deep as he can to come up with this vision of modern life," said Springsteen's long-time manager, John Landau, in a statement Thursday.

"The lyrics tell a story you can't hear anywhere else and the music is his most innovative in recent years. The writing is some of the best of his career and both veteran fans and those who are new to Bruce will find much to love on 'Wrecking Ball.'"

Springsteen, meanwhile, has added two arena concerts on his upcoming tour, a source tells THR:

one at Citi Field, home of the New York Mets
the other at MetLife Stadium, home of the New Jersey Jets, in East Rutherford, N.J.

He'll give the keynote address at the music conference portion of South by Southwest on March 15 in Austin, coinciding with the album's release.

I'm glad Bruce is touring again and look forward to new CD. Saw him in 2007because his tickets were cheap compared to his fellow senior contemporaries. Hope this tour is affordable so I can go to Citifield and MetLife.

Not a bad song...and I'll probably try to catch him in Concert this summer if he's playing in Cleveland.

I didn't expect the US tour to come before the European dates. I thought it would come in the Fall. Anyway, it looks like I'll be getting tickets this weekend. He opened many of the shows on his Fall 2009 tour with the song Wrecking Ball, which I really liked.

Steven Van Zandt Talks New Springsteen Album
1/31/12

Bruce's new album, 'Wrecking Ball', is coming out soon; I know it's more of a solo effort than a E Street Band production, but have you heard it?

What can you tell me about it?

I'm going to let him talk about it but, basically, I will tell you this: I love the album. I just absolutely love it, I think you're going to love it and I think everybody else is too.

The fact that a guy at his level of success, at his age, is still making records this vital and this relevant and this good, makes me just doubly proud to be his friend. I would love him anyway as a friend if he wasn't doing anything, but it really make me particularly proud to know him, that he would be this engaged, doing something this wonderful at this stage in the game.
