Why was he constantly picked in the final round of Match Game 99% of the time?

Because he usually had the top responses for the Super Match rounds.

Richard got picked 99% of the time because he matched the contestants 99% of the time. He wasn't a happy camper when they switched to the star wheel.

In addition to the Star Wheel, he also develpoed ego problems when Family Feud begame so popular and he left Match Game when his contract expired.

That's right, howilu. He did come across as being arrogant in those episodes.

At least Dawson apologized and said that the entire staff on FF was some of the best people he ever worked with.

Bob Barker, on the other, showed no remorse and no regret on his TPIR finale. In it, he made sure that it was all about him and no one else. It had "TACKY" written all over it. Anyone who says that TPIR should be all about Bob and no one else is full of it. It was like a bad episode of This is Your Life.

And this is why TPIR is so much better with Drew Carey. At least he acknowledges the staff and announcer, something Barker was well on his way to downplaying.

Did you expect Bob Barker to show remorse or regret in his last edition of "The Price is Right"? If so, why? He probably wanted his last show to be close to ordinary as possible. I did not find the show tacky at all and I remember Bob Barker acknowledging members occasionally over the course of his last few years as host.

Even though I no longer watch the current version of the show due to the drastic changes since Drew Carey became the host, I still care to read news and discussions about the show and defend its previous host occasionally.

He keeps acting like Holly Hallstrom never existed by making sure her face is blurred everytime they show a clip of TPIR that she's in. She did nothing wrong. It's Barker that's the bad guy, and the fact that he's lost lawsuit, after lawsuit, after lawsuit, should tell you that!

And just to show you how far Barker has pushed animal rights, consider the fact that many episodes with furcoats as prizes that he's banned (including the first episode), were pricing game debuts. Barker is a total moron, **** his fanboys and **** him.

Plus, I don't remember Dawson demanding to be named "Executive Producer", nor do I see Drew Carey planning on doing it anytime soon, or even later than that. Face it, TPIR is watchable again, is back to being just another day at the office instead of being another day in the courtroom. But, hey, if you prefer TPIR as another day in the courtroom, go ahead, be my guest.

You should not blame everything on Bob Barker just because he held the title of executive producer. The owners of the show are the ultimate authorities and Bob Barker was like a shield to them.

Fremantle is the good guy, Barker is the bad guy. He made sure Rod Roddy get as less camera time as possible. Do you really think Fremantle initiated a policy stating that announcers shouldn't be on camera at all? If you think so, you're sadly mistaken. Fremantle doesn't care if the announcer gets more camera time than the host.

I never believed in the existence of a policy preventing announcers from appearing on shows owned by Fremantle Media. As for the linked article, I read it shortly after it was published and I never believed Bob Barker was forced to retire. You cannot believe everything his accusers say and let the owners of the show get away with their activities. I hope for an honest and truthful account about all of these folks from an impartial researcher or reporter someday.

Anyway,it got very old after awhile when Dawson got picked by contestants (mostly women,I don't think a male contestant ever picked him,or did they?)in the "Super Match".THAT's why I liked the NBC 1960's version better .

Of those three only Richard Dawson was there at the beginning. Brett Sommers' first appearance came shortly after at the insistence of husband (and first week guest) Jack Klugman. I'm not sure if Brett and Charles debuted on the panel at the same time, but their chemistry was noted very early on and, though they began merely as guests, both were regulars by the end of 1973.

I don't know if any of them appeared on the NBC version, but I rather doubt it. Some celebrities from the NBC years were seen again on the 70s version, but ironically enough I'm pretty sure the regulars all started there as new kids on the block.

I like the older game shows, and wish GSN would go back to showing the game shows from the 50s. I usually watch The Match Game and really like seeing the celebs from the day, but Brett really gets on my nerves. I find her annoying and loud.
