I just noticed that 'Family Guy' characters like Quagmire and Joe Swanson are used in the opening. I never noticed that before. Is that new or was it always that way?

Good eye. I never noticed it before, either. But I just compared an older episode to a newer episode, and it looks like they were added last year, when the show went HD and the opening credits were re-animated. The female dancers were also changed to peripheral Family Guy characters.
