View Full Version : Home Invasions
Eddie B 11-15-2011, 11:18 AM What all cases feature home invasions? Curious for a project. I can think of the following:
Richard's Rampage
East Area Rapist
The Wackers
John Mooney
What's the one about the man accused of murdering his family, while he claims it was a cult? A girl from a cult even backed up his story...

That's the Jeffrey MacDonald case. Another "home invasion" type story is that of Joe Jones. He didn't necessarily invade the home, because he lived there, but he did kill everyone inside and attempted to kill the man who owned the house when he returned in the evening.
Steve W. 11-15-2011, 01:09 PM Another one: I was just in this thread, so it's fresh in my mind:
Jeanine Nicarico
soilentgreen 11-15-2011, 03:03 PM Stanley Gryziec's murder
The hot prowl burglaries in Jefferson County, Tennessee
Eva Schoen's murder -- the husband speculated on UM that the crime was connected to the ongoing lawsuit over the control of U-Haul, but the police claimed that the perpetrator was a random burglar.
Mahfuz Huq's murder of Todd Kelly.
Also those that are up for conjecture -- Ayleen Conway, Doyle Wheeler, Tommy Burkett, Tony Lombardi.
TheCars1986 11-15-2011, 03:43 PM Roger Dean is another one.
crookshanks 11-15-2011, 03:50 PM I think I remember a case of a teenage girl staying home from school when a group of people came in, ransacked the place, but stole nothing. There was some doubt about whether or not her story was true. Sorry if it has been mentioned but I don't remember her name
TracyLynnS 11-15-2011, 04:27 PM Sorry if I duplicate any already posted. I got these from unsolvedmysterieswikia.com There are quite a few more there. Another source is unsolved.com, the official website
Richard Church
Jaclyn Dowaliby

Dorothy Donovan
Edward Bell
Bill and Dorothy Wacker (up for debate tho)

That's Sarah Powell. Lots of info here in a few threads if the OP is interested in researching that one further.
NDAlum2003 11-15-2011, 05:28 PM There was also a later case in Ohio when Becky Wood's home was invaded, and they stole her car and valuables plus cash from a safe. It was later determined that the culprits had worked for her and her husband so they knew where everything valuable was located. Clearly an inside job.
UMFaninMD 11-15-2011, 06:54 PM Anthonette Cayedito - although her sister let the kidnapper in, she was still abducted from her house.
Cindy James - while we don't know if she was murdered at home and dumped somewhere else (if it was murder), there are the alleged assaults that were done on her in her home.
Las Cruces Bowling Alley Massacre - business invasion
Eddie B 11-16-2011, 12:53 AM Thanks, everyone.

assuming that the family's account of what happened is true
WishfulDreamer 01-04-2013, 10:36 PM The one where the two men broke in with vampire masks scared the bejeezus out of me when I was a kid. I only remember that the robbed woman had the last name "Wood"and that the robbers ended up being connected to the family (former employees, etc.).
1990 UM fan 01-05-2013, 12:50 AM the Cawood burglary sticks with me, especially since the lady and her son walked in on the robbers and she ran toward them in a panic, then they tie them both up. I remember the lady's words, "I brought you into this world and we'll leave it together" and one of the robbers just snickers. The one with the Santa Clara bank getting robbed is eerie too, when the tellers walk out and the burglar is right there with a gun.
scc1222 01-05-2013, 02:18 AM what was the one where the 2 men were friends, did a lot of casual business together (trading cars, etc),then it tirns out,the guy's friend ended up robbing his home and hitting his wife in the head when she walked in on the invasion.I recall some little foreign dolls and things in a safe they were taking.did they ever find the guy?
dynoguy88 01-05-2013, 12:55 PM Doreen Picard and Susan Laferte. Even their house that they were attacked in looked kind of creepy.

DALLASTEXAN!! 01-06-2013, 09:59 PM If she is innocent darlie routier. uM did say that other burglaries in the area were reported with the perp using a sock over their hands. I think the common opinion is there was no invasion.

Does anyone know anything about this??? Never seen it.

Anyone have names for this one, as well? Would love to see it.

Is this the first one: http://unsolvedmysteries.wikia.com/wiki/Gary_and_Ted_Noble
The second one sounds familiar, but I can't find it on the UM wiki. Is it the case where the husband and wife had a kachina doll collection and other valuables in the house? Seems like the husband had friends over one day who wanted to see some of his collectables (maybe a gun?), the husband went to his safe to get it out, and was surprised to see that the "friend" had followed him into the room to watch him open the safe.
Later, the wife walked in a burglary and was beaten in the head with a hammer? I could be mixing up a couple different cases here or misremembering stuff tho.
Latka Gravas 03-20-2021, 11:13 AM Recently saw the S09, EP03 segment involving Dr. Cawood & his family, whose TN home was invaded/ransacked in 1994; he & his family were also tied up & almost killed. Very unsettling sequence; I'm especially disturbed by home invasions, because if you're not safe in your own home - where are you safe?!
From looking this up on Wiki, it appears that they may have caught someone who had something to do with these home invasions - but it's not 100% certain. It appears that a string of these (at around the same time) were conducted by a group of people - and most of them have probably never been caught.
