View Full Version : Who gets channels, who doesn't
tiredmike59 11-12-2011, 12:10 PM I was looking at the affiliate maps of RTV and Antennatv and noticed they were very similar,I couldn't find a map for MeTV, but I bet it looks like the other two. Some states get shafted when it comes to getting these new channels, small market I guess.

LUNCH 11-12-2011, 12:52 PM I only get Antenna TV.We used to also pick up RTV but the idiot affiliate here replaced it with some useless junk station. If they had any common sense they would have replaced RTV with Me-tv,but I guess they do not want many viewers.
Mr. Television 11-12-2011, 01:47 PM I get Antenna TV and RTV. I get about 5% of Me-TV. The affiliate airs religeous programming and infomercials and has some Me-TV programming scattered throughout the day and night. I wish I could get all the shows.
BigManMike 11-12-2011, 03:29 PM I get Antenna TV and thank goodness RTV is being replaced with MeTV on Monday.
TVFactFan 11-12-2011, 09:18 PM I get Antenna TV and thank goodness RTV is being replaced with MeTV on Monday.
How did you find that out? Your cable company notified you? They normally don't say anything
BigManMike 11-12-2011, 09:43 PM On their website. I don't have cable, but I have known for the past month that MeTV would replace RTV in my area.
tvfreak1987 11-13-2011, 06:11 AM I get Me-TV locally, and I live near a market (Grand Rapids, about an hour away) that has RTV and Antenna TV which I don't get all the time (only on really clear nights). Though that may change with Antenna TV as there is a rumor that it might be coming to my area soon as well.

MeTV map does look like the others, California and most places east of the Mississippi. Some of those western states aren't even touched.
CommonTater 11-14-2011, 12:23 PM We can't get cable or so pick up anything on an antenna. Our only option is Dish or Direct TV. :(
LUNCH 11-14-2011, 01:31 PM I don't have satellite but I heard Antenna-tv offered those companies the opportunity to carry them for free, and they still declined.I'll bet Me-tv offered free carriage too.I mean, these are not 2 obscure tv stations, they are stations I'd bet that are viewed by millions of people already and that is just in the areas that they are available.

The MeTV map shows at least 3 places in New york that carry their station,I am surprised you can't get it.
LUNCH 11-14-2011, 04:22 PM I'm surprised too,but I just checked the Me-tv site again and put in my zip code.It said it's not available in this area yet.Maybe I should play around with the antenna and see if I can still pick it up.
factsoflife 11-14-2011, 06:12 PM Me-TV is the only one I get.

Try this site. http://www.tvfool.com/ You put in your address and it shows where to point your antenna. Fantastic resource.
mets82 11-15-2011, 11:47 PM I get both Antenna TV and RTV. Its not even a contest to which one is better. Antenna TV all the way.
James 11-18-2011, 01:15 PM http://www.antennatv.tv/affiliates/
When I scrolled (for lack of a better term) over the letters of Kentucky station WKTC no window for it appeared. What's up with that?
James 11-18-2011, 01:21 PM RTV's website lists Dayton's WWRD 32.1, but I can tune it in over the air. When I do a channel search with my digital box (you know, that thing that became mandatory back in 2008), it does not appear. Why is that? I thought over the air stations were going the way of the dinosaur!
Over-the-air TV stations aren't going anywhere. The analog stations are the ones that went away. Digital stations are here to stay, though, which is why you needed to either get said box in 2009, or upgrade to a newer TV with a digital tuner.
ajgenard 11-19-2011, 11:11 AM I think the government failed at educating people about the DTV transition. The campaign made it appear at face value that you absolutely needed a digital converter box if you still wanted OTA. I don't think it was ever established in any of the ads that every TV manufactured after March 2007 is required to have the tuner built-in.
IllinoisTVFan 11-19-2011, 06:22 PM I get both Antenna TV and Me-TV along with the local channel Me-Too but do not get Retro. I have heard though that in certain parts of the Chicago (probably the areas that border other areas)RTV is picked up. Awhile back I did here that they were talking to a local small station to carry RTV on its subchannels but haven't heard anything else so no idea if this is real or a rumor. However I've seen their schedules and prefer the other stations and watch often.
ekkostar 11-22-2011, 12:46 AM I could get Me-TV and the other local UHFs, but I'm not willing to spend the $50 that Dish Network is asking for the additional tuner card to access something that was supposed to be free to begin with.
Ryan Chamberlain 11-23-2011, 01:49 AM I start getting Antenna TV on December 1st. I'm pretty stoked. :)
comedyfreak 11-23-2011, 06:34 AM I get RTV and Hub. Something happened to ME-TV.
