Thanks so much for explaining that, that's pretty much what i heard too. It just amazes me how these things always happen, and how easily people turn on you just based on secondhand information. So many great people devoted their lives to such great things, and it seems like in the end, almost always, someone disgraces them, tarnishing their reputation forever. Some rightfully so, but many, wrongfully so.

Penn State Scandal: Rumor Claims Sandusky “Pimped Out” Boys to Rich Donors

Just when you thought the Penn State child sex-abuse scandal couldn't possibly get any worse, we may have just scratched the surface. Joe Paterno being fired could be just the start of arguably the biggest downfall in the history of college athletics.

Pittsburgh radio personality Mark Madden, who penned a column for the Beaver County Times back in April of this year named "Sandusky a State secret," a column which foreshadowed the recent scandal which has absolutely gutted those of us in the Penn State family, was a guest on the Dennis & Callahan Morning Show on WEEI sports talk radio out of Boston on Thursday morning. During his appearance, Madden, who has been mostly right regarding this issue from the very start, dropped what can only be called a bombshell, an announcement which could mean far more than the end of Joe Paterno's career.

Madden stated that two "prominent columnists" are currently investigating a rumor that Jerry Sandusky's Second Mile Foundation, a non-profit organization aimed to serve underprivileged youths, was "pimping out young boys to rich (Penn State) donors." Madden went on to say that Jerry Sandusky was told by those running the show at Penn State football that Sandusky had to retire after allegations made in 1998 that the defensive coordinator was guilty of "improper conduct with an underage male." Sandusky, thought by some to be Joe Paterno's successor at the time, abruptly and somewhat shockingly retired from coaching in 1999.

It actually gets worse. Madden went on to say "When Sandusky quit, everybody knew; not just at Penn State. It was a very poorly kept secret around college football, in general. That is why he never coached in college football again and retired at the relatively young age of 55, young for a coach." Madden also called the Second Mile Foundation "the perfect cover" for Sandusky's scheme.

I want to be absolutely clear about a few things. These reports, as of the writing of this piece, are coming only from Mark Madden, and they are currently only rumors and speculation. With that said, Mark Madden has been mostly correct about a grand jury investigation which was sealed until very recently. I'm not suggesting that I 100 percent believe Madden to be correct. I'm certainly not ignoring a word he's saying regarding the Sandusky case at this point.

Late Wednesday evening after Joe Paterno was fired by Penn State, an "in the know" individual told me that this story was going to get uglier, and that there were, at the very least, "dozens of more victims." My absolute worst fear regarding the issue is what Mark Madden spoke on Thursday morning. It's been widely reported that the US Department of Education is currently investigating Penn State. Are they going to find that Jerry Sandusky was running a multimillion-dollar criminal organization, one which resulted in dozens, possibly hundreds (or even more), of youths being sexually abused? Will they find that higher-ups at Penn State, including now former football coach Joe Paterno, covered-up Sandusky's heinous crimes? All I know this morning is that, after the worst week of my Penn State life, I don't know if anything would shock me.

Solomon, this is more than just a sport's story and is dominating the news, so I moved it to general Chit Chat.

I think if even half of this horror and hell is true, they all need to be brought up on charges. I don't care how old they are or how glorious their career has been, looking the other way is participating in the crime.

It's scary to see just how far this cover-up has gone, with Sandusky's charity organization being used as a front, and now allegations that he may have done the same thing in Texas.

Regardless, if Paterno knew about this and did nothing, he deserves what he gets. If a minor gets attacked in this manner and someone saw it, they should report it to the police regardless of reputation.

Joe Paterno should have fired the assistant coach soon as he found out about it. I've read about him in the book "Something For Joey". They were right in firing him. I realized that it's his own fault but I hated the way his career ended. Hope he learned something from all of this.

Joe Paterno doesn't have a case. Penn St. had to fire him. Paterno's lucky if he doesn't get sued himself. He had knowledge of at least one incident and probably more. There were rumors about Sandusy going back until at least the 1990's and Paterno didn't do anything about it. I don't get all the love for this man.

He was an assistant coach at Penn St. before he was promoted to head coach. He's been at Penn St. since 1950.

“She met him through the school district; she was interested in the law,” the mother said.

Amendola and Mary, who is now 32, later married in February 2003, according to court records.

They had a second child around that time but have since split up, Janet said, adding that she now has respect for Amendola.

“Joe is a very good father and has loved his two children very much, and that’s the most important thing for me right now,” she said.

Neither Amendola nor Mary Iavasile returned requests for comment.

Records show that the age of consent in Pennsylvania is 16 years old.

Ex-Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky was arrested at his home in State College, PA and taken to jail again Wednesday on new charges of child sex abuse.

This brings the total count of victims alleging abuse from Sandusky to 10.



Two new male accusers (Victim 9 and Victim 10) came forward, with one (Victim 9) claiming Sandusky molested him numerous times in a basement bedroom when he was a child according to the grand jury, NBC News reports.

Four unmarked police cars arrived to take the former football coach into custody. Bail on the new charges was set at $250,000, which Sandusky was not able to pay in cash.

"As in many of the other cases identified to date, the contact with Sandusky allegedly fit a pattern of 'grooming' victims," Attorney General Linda Kelly said, reports NBC, "beginning with outings to football games and gifts; they later included physical contact that escalated to sexual assaults."









According to Victim 9, he first met Sandusky while attending his The Second Mile summer camp and was eventually invited to sleepovers at the coach's home.

The man testified in the grand jury report that Sandusky forced him into oral and anal sex while he was staying in the basement. On at least one occasion, the victim testified, he screamed for help, knowing that Sandusky's wife was upstairs, but no one ever came to help him.



"Additional sex acts were allegedly performed in the swimming pool and Jacuzzi of a hotel in the State College area, at times when the pool area was not occupied," said the report.

"I'm very disappointed by the latest tactics of the Attorney General's Office by going to Jerry's house unannounced without so much as giving me a courtesy phone call as his attorney," Sandusky's attorney, Joe Amendola, said in a statement.

"I had to hear about it from the media. We've always offered to turn him in if there were new charges."



He later announced that they were "working on posting bail and anticipate the necessary documents and materials will be brought to the judge in the morning," adding that they hoped to free Sandusky by Thursday.

According to Victim 9, he first met Sandusky while attending his The Second Mile summer camp and was eventually invited to sleepovers at the coach's home.

The man testified in the grand jury report that Sandusky forced him into oral and anal sex while he was staying in the basement. On at least one occasion, the victim testified, he screamed for help, knowing that Sandusky's wife was upstairs, but no one ever came to help him.



"Additional sex acts were allegedly performed in the swimming pool and Jacuzzi of a hotel in the State College area, at times when the pool area was not occupied," said the report.

"I'm very disappointed by the latest tactics of the Attorney General's Office by going to Jerry's house unannounced without so much as giving me a courtesy phone call as his attorney," Sandusky's attorney, Joe Amendola, said in a statement.

"I had to hear about it from the media. We've always offered to turn him in if there were new charges."



He later announced that they were "working on posting bail and anticipate the necessary documents and materials will be brought to the judge in the morning," adding that they hoped to free Sandusky by Thursday.
