I got to meet Lisa last Sunday while she was in The Woodlands. Here is my story for those of you that are interested. :)
I drove to my sisters on Saturday. She lives in Baytown, about an hour from The Woodlands where Lisa was. I was SO excited I didn't go to sleep until 3 am.
I got up, took a shower, etc... and headed off for The Woodlands to be there for the 2nd service at 11:30. (I didn't want to have to get up any earlier for the 9:30 service.)
I got there just as the first service was getting out. There was a line to buy her books and a line to get her to sign them so I just went ahead and bought both books.
I got in line for Lisa to sign my books. When I got up there she asked me my name and how to spell it. I told her I had been looking forward to meeting her and that this was the closest she was going to be to where I lived. Lisa asked where I was from and how long it took me to get there. I told her where I lived and that I drove aproximately a total of 6 hours one way to see her. She was pretty impressed with that.
She then told me that she was going to be coming down to south Texas tomorrow (Monday). They were going to go to Donna and take the kids to South Padre Island. I told her the kids would really enjoy the beach there. I told her that another thing they might enjoy is taking the King Ranch Tour in the city where I live.
She asked me what the King Ranch was so I started telling her about it. She seemed pretty impressed. Especially when I told her about the Saddle shop in downtown that sells all of their stuff.
After she signed my books (I told her that it was my second time buying "The Facts of Life and Other Lessons My Father Taught Me" because I had read the other one so much I needed a new copy. She was very flattered when I said that. ) I asked if I could get a picture with her and she said sure. (The picture is at the bottom)
She asked me if I was going to go the women's luncheon later and then the question and answer session with her after lunch. I told her I didn't know because I had promissed my niece I would be back by the time she woke up from her nap plus I had a long trip infront of me home that day.
She said that she would hate for me to drive that far just to see her and hardly be able to see her at all.
I was just like whoa!!!
I really started thinking about staying then. I mean hey, Lisa HAD asked me.
So I decided to go so I bought a ticket to go to the luncheon and then I went to the service. The service was nice and Lisa spoke for about 10 minutes. After the service I made my way to the luncheon and called my sister. I told her to put my niece down for a late nap b/c I was staying a bit later.
I met several nice ladies and we all got to talking. After eating we made our way back to the main room where Lisa was going to be having the question/answer session.
Charlenne wanted to buy a book so I went on in to save us some seats. I got the front row, right infront of Lisa
So she comes in a bit late and she explains she was late b/c her daughter was sick and she was tending to her. Lisa told us what Tucker had said to her on the way back to the church from the RV. LOL :rothlmao:
She said that Clancy asked her where she was going and she told her she was going back to the church for another talk. Lisa leaned down to kiss Clancy and Tucker told Clancy that she didn't want to do that because mom had just put a bullet up Haven's hole. The "bullet" that he referred to was a supository for Haven, but it was pretty funny anyway.
So she opend the floor to questions. I was the second person she called on. She looked down at me and said, "Oh, I'm so glad you got to stay after all, did you talk to your niece?" I told her no that I had called my sister and asked her to put my niece down for a late nap. Lisa laughed.
CAN YOU BELIEVE SHE RECOGNIZED ME!!!!! I WAS LIKE COOL!!!!!
Anyway, so I made a comment, that almost made Lisa cry and then I asked her my question. I asked her, "You have said that you do not want your children in show business, but Clancy was in the reunion movie." Lisa started grinning here. "Did she beg you or did you decide to let her try or what?"
Lisa said, "For those of you that don't know, I have always said that I did not want my children to get into show business because of everything that can go wrong. How many other people knew that my daughter was in the reunion?" Nobody else knew. Lisa went on to explain that the director had asked Clancy to be an extra and she had agreed because of the fact that she would be an extra and not one of the "stars" so it would not go to her head or anything like that. She elaborated a bit more then went on to other questions.
It was a really great day. I left there went back to my sisters house, packed my bags, loaded my truck and hit the road again. I got home about 9 that night. All in all I drove right at 700 miles in 2 days just to see Lisa and it was worth it
